Recipe: Invigorating Marine SPA Cold Process Soap
Create a beautiful, skin-loving cold process soap bar with the refreshing scent of the Marine SPA.
Ingredients:
Instructions for Preparation: Prepare the Lye Solution: Wearing safety gear (gloves, goggles), slowly add the sodium hydroxide to the cold distilled water in a well-ventilated area. Stir until fully dissolved. Set aside to cool to 45°C.
Melt the Oils: In a separate heat-safe pot, melt the coconut oil and shea butter. Once melted, add the olive oil. Allow the mixture to cool to 45°C.
Emulsify: When both the lye solution and the oil mixture are at the same temperature, slowly and carefully pour the lye solution into the oil mixture. Use an immersion blender to mix in short pulses until the mixture reaches a light trace (the consistency of a thin pudding).
Add the Fragrance: Add the Marine SPA Fragrance Oil and mix with a spatula until fully incorporated. This fragrance oil does not accelerate trace, so you will have time to create swirls or layers if you desire.
Pour and Cure: Pour the soap mixture into your mold. Cover and insulate it for 24-48 hours. After this time, unmold the soap, cut it into bars, and place them on a curing rack in a cool, dry place for at least 4-6 weeks to harden and become mild.
Recommendations:
-
Safety First: Always wear safety glasses and gloves when working with sodium hydroxide.
-
Scent Strength: The 1-2% fragrance oil usage rate in this recipe will give you a perfect mid-strength scent. You can adjust it up to 3% for a stronger aroma.
-
Curing: The curing process is crucial for a long-lasting, gentle soap bar. Do not skip this step.
