Description and Key Features
Our Blueberry Thyme Fragrance Oil is a high-quality aromatic compound, meticulously blended to deliver a distinctive and long-lasting scent. It's perfectly suited for a variety of home and personal care products, providing an upscale, gourmet fragrance experience.
Key features and benefits:
- Sophisticated Aromatic Profile: A harmonious blend of sweet, tart, and herbaceous notes creates a truly unique and appealing fragrance. The initial burst of blueberry, bergamot, and lemon gives way to the aromatic freshness of rosemary and thyme, settling into a comforting base of vanilla, berry vines, and musk.
- Versatile Solubility: Easily dissolves in various alcohols (ethanol, propylene glycol, perfumer's alcohol, benzyl, isopropyl, isopropyl myristate, diethyl phthalate) while maintaining solution clarity. It blends excellently with oils but is not soluble in water, a common characteristic for many fragrance oils.
- High Vanillin Content: Contains 5.00% vanillin. Due to the presence of vanillin, products may experience discoloration over time. We recommend using a color stabilizer to preserve the original appearance of your finished goods.
- Manufactured in the USA: Ensures high quality, consistency, and adherence to stringent fragrance manufacturing standards.
- Liquid Form: Easy to measure and incorporate into formulations.
Versatile Applications and Usage Areas
Blueberry Thyme Fragrance Oil is a wonderfully versatile component for a wide array of handmade and commercial products, allowing you to infuse them with this exquisite gourmet aroma.
- Candle Making (Wax-based):
- Add up to 10% to vegetable waxes (soy, coconut, palm) and paraffin waxes. This high load allows for a strong hot and cold throw, filling your space with its captivating scent. This fragrance is an exceptional choice for creating unique and luxurious scented candles that stand out.
- Soap Making (Handmade Soap):
- Use up to 1% in both cold process and melt & pour soaps. This fragrance holds well in soap, providing a delightful and long-lasting aroma during use. Due to the vanillin content, be prepared for potential discoloration (e.g., turning beige or brown) in cold process soap; a vanilla color stabilizer is highly recommended.
- Bath & Body Products (Handmade Cosmetics):
- Incorporate up to 1% in bath oils, bath gels, lotions, and perfumes. This lower percentage ensures skin safety while imparting a beautiful aroma. It's perfect for creating cohesive product lines with a consistent signature scent.
- Bath Bombs: Add to bath bomb formulations to create a luxurious and aromatic bathing experience. The oil will disperse with the bath bomb, releasing its scent into the water.
- Shampoos and Conditioners: Infuse hair care products with this unique scent for an elevated sensory experience during washing and conditioning. Use up to 1%.
- Home Fragrance Products:
- Dry Perfumes and Incense: Can be used in higher concentrations, up to 50%, for solid perfumes, potpourri, and incense sticks, where a very strong and lasting scent is desired.
- Cleaning Products: Add up to 1% to homemade or unscented cleaning solutions to leave a fresh, appealing scent in your home.

Instructions for Preparation:
- Sanitize: Thoroughly sanitize all your equipment (heat-safe beakers, stirring rods, hand mixer, lotion bottles) with isopropyl alcohol and allow them to air dry completely.
- Heat Phase A (Oil Phase): In a heat-safe beaker, combine Emulsifying Wax NF, Sweet Almond Oil, Shea Butter, and Stearic Acid. Gently heat over a double boiler or in a microwave (using short bursts) until all ingredients are fully melted and combined (around 70-75°C / 158-167°F).
- Heat Phase B (Water Phase): In a separate heat-safe beaker, combine Distilled Water and Glycerin. Heat this phase to the same temperature as Phase A (around 70-75°C / 158-167°F).
- Combine Phases: Carefully pour Phase A (oil phase) into Phase B (water phase) while stirring continuously with a whisk or stick blender. Continue blending until the emulsion forms and begins to thicken, creating a creamy texture.
- Cool Down and Add Phase C: Remove the beaker from heat and continue to stir occasionally as the lotion cools. Once the lotion has cooled to below 40°C (104°F), add the Blueberry Thyme Fragrance Oil, Liquid Germall Plus (preservative), Vitamin E Oil, and the optional Vanilla Color Stabilizer. Stir thoroughly to ensure even distribution of all ingredients.
- Bottle: Once fully cooled, transfer the finished lotion into a clean, sterile lotion bottle or jar.
Recommendations for Application and Use:
- Fragrance Percentage: The 0.5% concentration of Blueberry Thyme Fragrance Oil provides a noticeable yet pleasant aroma for a hand lotion. You can adjust this within the up to 1% recommendation for bath and body products based on your desired scent strength.
- Vanillin Discoloration: Given the 5.00% vanillin content, we strongly recommend using a vanilla color stabilizer. Without it, your lotion may develop a yellowish or brownish tint over time, especially if exposed to light. Add the stabilizer in Phase C.
- Cool Down Phase: Always add the fragrance oil and preservative in the cool-down phase (below 40°C) to prevent the degradation of the scent and ensure preservative efficacy.
- Storage: Store the lotion in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, to maintain its quality and prolong its shelf life.
- Application: Apply a small amount of lotion to hands as needed throughout the day, massaging until absorbed. Enjoy the hydrating benefits and delightful aroma.
- Patch Test: Always perform a patch test on a small area of skin (e.g., inner forearm) before full application, especially if you have sensitive skin or are new to using fragrance oils in cosmetics. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.
- External Use Only: This fragrance oil is for external cosmetic and home fragrancing use only. Do not ingest.
