What makes olive soap base a favorite for gentle, moisture-rich formulas
The Olive Melta base in a 500 g pack is a ready-to-use melt and pour semi-finished product already enriched with olive oil, which softens and nourishes the skin. This format belongs to the category of Melt and Pour Soap Bases, where different types of semi-finished bases are gathered for craft studios, small natural cosmetics brands, and home production of skincare items. A 500 g pack is particularly convenient for trial batches and small creative projects, allowing formulators to test a recipe, adjust oil blends, and check fragrance combinations before scaling up to larger volumes.
Olive base is widely used in soap making when a softer, creamier lather texture and stronger moisturizing feel are required, since the fatty acids from olive oil reduce the drying effect compared to standard clear bases. Beyond home soap crafting, this base is popular among makers of gift sets, spa souvenir products, and small workshops producing limited collections of facial and body care items. It readily accepts additional ingredients: carrier oils at around 5-10 g per 100 g of base, essential oils or fragrance oils at 1-3 g per 100 g, cosmetic pigments and natural colorants at minimal concentrations of 0.1-1 g per 100 g, plus dry additives such as ground coffee, clay, or oat flakes.
For more advanced formulations, the Olive base is often combined with other bases from the same line. The Soap base Melta clear 500 g is ideal for creating decorative transparent inserts and layers within an opaque olive bar, producing an attractive visual contrast. To enhance the nourishing and softening effect, the olive base pairs well with the Soap Base Shea Butter Melta 500 g, while for gentle care on sensitive or dry skin it can be blended with the Goat Milk Soap Base Melta 500 g, which adds extra softness thanks to its milk components.
The base is easiest to work with using a double boiler: cubes are melted at around 65-70 degrees Celsius, avoiding boiling, since overheating reduces the pliability of the mass and can degrade some of the added active ingredients. Fragrance and colorant additives should be introduced right before pouring into molds, once the mixture has cooled slightly but still remains fluid. Unopened base should be stored in a dry place at temperatures not exceeding 25 degrees Celsius, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, in tightly sealed packaging to preserve its texture and pliability over time.
Olive and green tea facial bar
Olive Melta soap base - 400 g
Brewed green tea, cooled - 15 ml
Jojoba oil - 10 g
Kaolin clay - 5 g
Tea tree essential oil - 3 ml
Cut the base into cubes and melt it over a double boiler until fully liquid, avoiding boiling. Once slightly cooled but still fluid, stir in the jojoba oil and cooled green tea until evenly combined, then whisk in the kaolin clay to avoid clumping. Add the tea tree essential oil last, pour the mixture quickly into molds, lightly spray the surface with alcohol to remove air bubbles, and leave to set at room temperature for a few hours until fully hardened.
