The main purpose of the product is to create a dense yet easily applicable texture that provides occlusion and keeps moisture on the lip surface. In the personal care and cosmetics industry the base is used for manufacturing classic hygienic balms, melting sticks, solid balms in jars, as well as a base for tinted lip products with a color effect. Beyond cosmetics, similar fatty compositions are sometimes used in adjacent household chemical production where a protective film on hand skin is needed.

Working with the base is convenient thanks to its stable melting point, which allows precise control over the stage of introducing additional components. Typically the base is melted in a water bath at around 65-75 degrees Celsius, after which heat-stable active additives, oils, pigments or fragrances are introduced. It is important not to exceed the recommended temperature for volatile ingredients in order to preserve their effectiveness. After all ingredients are added, the mass is thoroughly mixed until homogeneous and poured into molds or tubes before crystallization begins.

The base pairs well with vegetable oils, natural waxes, vitamin complexes and moisturizing additives. To enhance the sensory properties of the finished product, manufacturers often add AQUAXYL, which helps provide long-lasting hydration to the lip skin and reduces the feeling of dryness. For a pleasant taste in the final product, formulators frequently introduce natural sweetener, which is especially valued in children's product lines and formulations for sensitive skin. If the goal is to achieve a glossy shine on top of a balm texture, it is worth considering a combination with Gloss Oil Gel, which adds extra shine and smooth glide upon application.

The recommended dosage of the base in a finished formula usually ranges from 60 to 85 percent of the total mass, depending on the desired firmness and packaging type. The remaining volume is filled with oils, additives and functional components. The base should be stored in a dry, cool place protected from direct sunlight and heat sources, in a tightly closed container, to prevent oxidation and texture changes during long-term storage.

Lip balm base 55 g

Sweet almond oil 12 g

Candelilla wax 8 g

Vitamin E 2 g

AQUAXYL 3 g

Natural sweetener 2 g

Orange essential oil 1 g

Melt the base together with candelilla wax in a water bath at around 72 degrees, then stir in sweet almond oil until fully combined. Cool the mixture slightly to 55 degrees and add vitamin E, AQUAXYL, natural sweetener and orange essential oil, mixing until smooth. Pour the finished mass into lip balm tubes or small jars and leave at room temperature until fully set.
