Why an oil complex matters in sun care formulations
Sun Care Oil Complex in a 1 liter pack is a ready-made lipid base built specifically for sun protection formulas. Rather than a single plant oil, it is a balanced blend of lipids selected to nourish the skin, give the emulsion a pleasant texture, and improve resistance to water and sweat once applied. This blend belongs to the category of sun protection components, where the oil phase largely determines how UV filters spread across the skin and how the finished product feels on application.
The complex is mainly used in the production of lotions, creams, sprays and tanning oils, as well as water-resistant SPF products that require a stable, well-performing oil phase. Beyond sunscreens, similar oil blends are widely applied in after-sun care, skin recovery balms and moisturizing emulsions, since the lipid mix helps retain moisture and softens the outer skin layer. In studio and industrial batches the oil is added to the fat phase during heating to around 65-75 degrees together with emulsifiers and other oils, then the mixture is cooled to 40-45 degrees before adding active or heat-sensitive ingredients.
The complex pairs well with more targeted plant oils, such as rosehip oil, commonly added to after-sun and recovery formulas for extra nourishment on skin prone to dryness after sun exposure. To boost the soothing effect, formulators often add immortelle essential oil, typically at no more than 0.3-0.5 percent of the finished product due to its concentrated active compounds. Complex sun care and recovery formulas also benefit from Vit-A-Like PW LS 9898, which supports skin renewal and blends smoothly into the oil base during the final low-temperature mixing stage.
Recommended dosage of the oil complex in a formula usually ranges from 5 to 20 percent depending on the desired texture and product type, with lighter sprays using a smaller share and thicker balms or sticks using more. The 1 liter pack suits studio and small-batch production, allowing formulators to test recipes at realistic volumes and launch limited runs without excess raw material left over. Store the complex in a tightly sealed container, in a cool dark place away from direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations, to keep the lipids stable throughout the shelf period.
