Deep carmine shimmer built for high-volume decorative cosmetics manufacturing
Covapearl Pure Carmine mica is a pearlescent pigment created from natural mica flakes coated with iron oxide layers, producing a rich carmine-red tone with a strong shimmering effect. It belongs to the Mica Powders range, which brings together pearlescent powders used across cosmetic and adjacent manufacturing lines. The 1 kg package is designed specifically for factories and formulation labs running conveyor-style production, where consistent color matching across every batch matters far more than a single small purchase.
The most common use of this pigment is in eyeshadow, blush, lipstick, lip gloss, nail polish and bronzer manufacturing, where the carmine pearl gives a strong visual accent without needing added glitter. Beyond color cosmetics, this type of mica is widely used in epoxy resin art and tumblers, candle wax coloring, decorative elements in household chemical products, polymer clay crafts, and occasionally in soap making for a shimmering finish. On an industrial scale, similar micas are used by plastics manufacturers, automotive coating producers and packaging companies to achieve metallic visual effects in large production runs.
The pigment disperses well in vegetable and mineral oils, waxes, silicone and gel bases, as well as epoxy and polyurethane resin systems. Recommended dosage ranges from 0.5 to 5 percent of the base weight depending on the desired intensity: lower percentages work for translucent glosses, while higher loading is needed for opaque, richly pigmented shadows and blushes. It is best added at the final mixing stage once the base has cooled below roughly 70-80 degrees Celsius, which prevents heat damage to the pearl coating and avoids clumping. For large-volume batches, using a disperser or homogenizer ensures even particle distribution throughout the entire production run.
To build out a broader color palette, this pigment pairs naturally with other micas from the same range: a warm metallic accent comes from 24 Karat Gold Mica, deepening the red tone works well with the Warm Red mica pigment blend, and contrasting duochrome transitions in eyeshadow palettes or resin pours can be achieved with Sky Blue Mica. Combining these shades allows a production line to build several finished products from a single set of raw pigments.
Store the pigment in a tightly sealed container, in a dry area away from direct sunlight and humidity fluctuations, which prevents caking of the powder and preserves shimmer uniformity across the full 1 kg volume during long-term storage.
Carmine pearl resin coaster batch
Covapearl Pure Carmine mica 6 g
Clear epoxy resin 400 g
Hardener 200 g
Isopropyl alcohol 10 ml
Mix
the epoxy resin and hardener slowly in a clean container until fully combined
and free of streaks, then divide the mixture into two portions. Stir the mica
into one portion gradually until the color is fully even without visible
clumps, then pour it into silicone molds in a thin base layer. Once it starts
to gel, pour the clear portion on top and use a few drops of isopropyl alcohol
on the surface to release trapped air bubbles, then let the piece cure
undisturbed at room temperature for at least 24 hours before demolding.
