What Makes a Satin Finish So Valuable in Modern Skincare Formulations
Satin Oil in a 20 ml pack is a lightweight cosmetic emollient that gives finished formulas a distinctive silky glide across the skin without leaving a greasy film. Functionally, this ingredient belongs to the category of emollients for cosmetics, which brings together substances responsible for softening, smoothing and creating a comfortable sensory profile in creams, lotions, serums and color cosmetics. The main field of application for this type of oil is skincare and decorative cosmetics, where a light, almost weightless texture and fast absorption without stickiness are essential.
Practical use of Satin Oil spans a wide range of products: day and night facial creams, body lotions and milk, makeup removers, foundation bases, lip balms, hair conditioners and sun care emulsions. Thanks to its ability to reduce the tackiness of heavier oils, this ingredient is often combined with denser plant oils and waxes to fine-tune the overall skin feel of a product. It pairs well with Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides Citrate, which is frequently used as a co-emulsifier to stabilize the system, and works together with the thickening and structuring agent Oleosoft 4O, which adds body and shelf stability to creams.
In most formulations, Satin Oil is introduced into the oil phase of an emulsion at a temperature of around 60-70 degrees Celsius, before combining with the water phase, allowing it to distribute evenly throughout the finished product. Recommended dosage ranges from 2 to 8 percent of the total formula weight depending on the desired texture and product type: lighter emulsions require a smaller percentage, while richer balms and creams can carry a higher share. To achieve a stable water-in-oil or oil-in-water emulsion, this oil is often combined with the silicone emulsifier ABIL EM 180, which provides reliable stabilization even in formulas with a high oil phase content.
The 20 ml pack size is aimed primarily at home cosmetic makers and small trial batches, when testing concentration and compatibility within a formula is a priority before scaling up production. This volume is convenient for lab trials, formula development and single small-scale products made for personal use or as gifts. The oil should be stored in a tightly sealed container, in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which helps preserve its functional properties throughout the shelf life.

the water phase with glycerin to 70 degrees Celsius, and separately heat the
oil phase containing Satin Oil, Hydrogenated Palm Glycerides Citrate, Oleosoft
4O and ABIL EM 180 to the same temperature. Slowly pour the oil phase into the
water phase while stirring continuously until a smooth emulsion forms, then
cool the mixture down to 40 degrees, add the preservative and continue stirring
until the mass has fully cooled.
