Why coffee-brown wax pigment is a staple for candle makers of every scale
This Coffee wax dye in a 1 kg pack belongs to the Candle colorants range, built specifically for tinting paraffin, soy, palm and gel wax. Candle manufacturing is the industry driving the biggest worldwide demand for this kind of pigment, since brown and coffee tones are among the most requested shades for home decor candles, hospitality and gift products, thanks to their ability to mimic natural wood, chocolate and caramel while giving interiors a warm, cozy feel.
Coffee-colored wax is widely used for rustic, eco and industrial-loft style candles, as well as scented candles carrying coffee, vanilla, chocolate or woody fragrance notes, where the color needs to visually match the scent profile. Beyond classic jar and mold candles, this pigment is also used for wax melts, wax sachets, molded decorative figures, spa and massage candle products, and pieces designed with an aged or antique wax finish. A 1 kg format fits comfortably into small workshops, studio-scale small-batch production and manufactories that need a stable supply without frequent reordering.
The dye blends well with virtually every wax type, including paraffin, soy, palm, coconut and beeswax, as well as gel bases. It should be introduced into already melted wax at around 65-80 degrees Celsius, stirred thoroughly until fully dissolved, and combined afterward with fragrance oil and stearic acid to stabilize the shade and improve crystallization. A typical dosage ranges from 0.5 to 2 grams of dye per 1 kilogram of wax depending on the desired depth of color, from a light cappuccino tone to a deep espresso brown. Because the pigment is highly concentrated, a single 1 kg pack can tint a substantial volume of wax, which simplifies planning for larger production runs.
Coffee pigment is frequently combined with other dyes to create layered or gradient candles and unique warm color effects. For instance, a small amount of Bright Orange Wax Dye blended into the base coffee tone produces a caramel-glaze effect, while pairing it with Fluorescent Pink Wax Dye is a popular choice for contrasting accents in multicolor candle designs. For bold veining in marbled or mosaic-style candles, makers also reach for Fluorescent Orange Wax Dye, achieving striking color transitions next to a calm coffee-brown background.
The dye should be stored in a tightly closed container, in a dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which keeps the color stable over time and allows the pack to be used gradually across multiple batches without any loss of quality in the remaining volume.
Mocha Latte Pillar Candle
Paraffin wax 700 g
Soy wax 300 g
Coffee wax dye 2 g
Coffee fragrance oil 40 g
Stearic acid 25 g
Melt the paraffin and soy wax together in a double boiler until fully liquid at around 75 degrees Celsius, then stir in the stearic acid until completely dissolved. Add the coffee wax dye gradually while stirring, checking the shade until it reaches an even, rich brown without streaks, then let the blend cool to about 60 degrees before mixing in the fragrance oil. Pour the finished mixture into prepared molds with a secured wick and allow it to set at room temperature away from drafts.
