Getting a rich pumpkin-orange tone right in wax blends
Warm autumn shades remain one of the steadiest trends in candle making worldwide, and a concentrated orange wax dye is a practical way to reach that pumpkin or tangerine look without guesswork. This pigment belongs to the candle colorants section, which gathers dyes suited for paraffin, soy, palm and blended waxes. The 5 gram pack is aimed mainly at home candle makers and small test batches, letting hobbyists and starting studios dial in the exact tone before committing to a larger production run.
The dye is added straight into melted wax at roughly 70-85 degrees Celsius, in small increments, with thorough stirring until every grain fully dissolves, otherwise streaks or uneven specks can appear in the finished candle. A tiny pinch per 100 grams of wax produces a soft peach tone, while larger amounts build up to a deep pumpkin or tangerine shade. The color pairs particularly well with citrus, cinnamon and spice fragrance oils, which is why it shows up so often in orange, cinnamon and pumpkin pie scented candles during the fall and winter seasons.
On a larger production scale, manufacturers rely on this kind of concentrated wax dye for batch-to-batch color consistency, which matters a lot for brands running recognizable product lines. Orange is frequently blended with brown to reach warm terracotta or honey tones, and for that purpose it helps to keep Brown Wax Dye 5 g on hand for fine-tuning depth and warmth. For lighter pastel peach variations, White Wax Colorant for Candle 5 g works as a reliable diluent, and for layered or gradient candles with a contrasting look, Bright Pink Wax Dye for Candles 5 g is a popular companion shade.
Store the dye in a dry place away from direct sunlight and humidity swings, tightly closed and away from heat sources, so the pigment keeps its strength over time. Beyond standard candle making, this type of heat-stable wax pigment is sometimes used for tinting decorative wax elements and certain wax-based floral decor pieces where a vivid, heat-resistant color is required.
Pumpkin spice orange candle
Soy wax 200 g
Coconut wax 40 g
Orange wax dye 1 g
Pumpkin spice fragrance oil 9 ml
Cotton wick 1 pc
Melt the soy and coconut wax together in a double boiler until smooth at around 76 degrees Celsius, remove from heat and add the orange dye in small portions, stirring continuously until fully dissolved and the color looks even throughout. Blend in the fragrance oil, let the mixture cool to about 55 degrees, then pour into a container with the wick centered and secured, allowing it to cure at room temperature for about 24 hours before lighting.
