Scaling Melissa CO2 Extract for Continuous Cosmetic and Fragrance Production
A 1 kg pack is intended for manufacturers who need a large, dependable batch of raw material for continuous-line production of fragrance compositions, skincare products and flavored goods. This extract belongs to the CO2 Extracts category, obtained through low-temperature carbon dioxide extraction, a method that preserves the majority of the plant's active compounds without leaving solvent residues or damaging volatile molecules through heat.
Melissa officinalis, commonly known as lemon balm, is prized for its fresh lemony-herbal profile and a rich complex of flavonoids, polyphenols and volatile oils, which explains the steady demand for this extract across several industries. In fragrance manufacturing it serves as a natural note in citrus and herbal compositions and also acts as a fixative for more volatile aromatic materials. In skincare production it is incorporated into toners, creams, serums and formulas for blemish-prone skin thanks to its refreshing and toning character. The food industry uses lemon balm extract to flavor liqueurs, tea beverages and confectionery products, while household chemical manufacturers add it to scented gels, sprays and laundry formulas to give products a recognizable herbal note.
For industrial formulations the recommended dosage ranges from 0.1 to 0.5% in cosmetic emulsions and up to 1-3% in fragrance concentrates, depending on the desired intensity. The extract should be added at the final production stage, once the base has cooled to no more than 40 degrees Celsius, to prevent loss of volatile aromatic compounds. It blends well with other CO2 extracts, allowing formulators to build multi-component complexes: for scalp-strengthening formulas it is often paired with Nettle CO2 extract, while draining and firming body care lines benefit from combining it with CO2 Extract of Green Coffee. In marine-inspired cosmetic lines, lemon balm extract is frequently used together with Fucus CO2 Extract to create balanced formulas combining botanical and algae-derived components.
When purchasing in bulk, proper storage conditions are essential: airtight containers, room temperature or below, and protection from direct light and air exposure. Under these conditions the raw material retains its properties for an extended period, which matters greatly for facilities running on a regular production schedule. The extract is compatible with most emulsifiers, preservatives and base oils used in industrial cosmetic manufacturing, making it easy to integrate into existing formulations without reworking the entire process.
