What makes a coarser gold particle stand out in decorative formulas
The Light Gold glitter with a 0.5mm particle size in a compact 10 gram pack is designed for anyone who wants to try a bold sparkle effect without committing to a large volume. This size is a great fit for home cosmetic making and trial batches before scaling up a formula. This shimmer belongs to the Glitters section, which brings together decorative particles of various fractions and shades for cosmetic, fragrance, candle and craft production.
The main use of coarse gold glitter is in decorative cosmetics: nail gels and polishes, body shimmers and highlighters, lip and eye glitter, and festive makeup where a noticeable sparkle is the goal. Beyond cosmetics, particles of this size are popular in decorative candle layers, resin art and epoxy pours, jewelry making, slime crafts and other creative projects. In household chemistry coarse glitter sometimes appears in shower gels and decorative soap bars, though this remains a minor example compared to the strong demand from decorative cosmetics and craft industries.
A 0.5mm particle is noticeably larger than standard fine glitters and delivers a visible sparkle even at low dosage — typically 0.5 to 2 percent of the total formula weight depending on the desired intensity. It is best added at the final stage of preparation, once the base has cooled to no more than 40-45 degrees Celsius, to avoid particle deformation and keep an even distribution without settling. Mixing should be gentle, without strong mechanical agitation, so the flakes keep their shape and do not clump together.
This gold glitter pairs well with a finer fraction to build a layered sparkle effect, for example with Glitter Gold TS 105 (0.1 mm) 1/256, 50 g, which adds a softer shimmer beneath the coarser flakes. An interesting result also comes from combining it with the same shade in a smaller size — Glitter gold Light Gold (0.1 mm) 1/256, 50 g, giving a smooth transition from fine shimmer to large flashes of light. For a richer and brighter golden tone it can be paired with Glitter Golden Bright TS 117 (0.2 mm) 50 g, adding tonal contrast within a single formula.
Store the glitter in a dry place, tightly sealed, away from direct sunlight and moisture, since contact with water before it is added to a formula may cause the particles to clump. Under proper storage conditions the shelf life usually exceeds several years, and the particle itself is stable in most cosmetic bases including gels, creamy textures and wax compositions.
