Geraniol aromatic monoterpene alcohol for fragrance cosmetic flavor and industrial formulations
Geraniol is a naturally occurring monoterpene alcohol present in many essential oils including rose geranium palmarosa and citronella. The ingredient appears as a clear colorless to pale yellow liquid with a characteristic floral rose like aroma with green nuances. It dissolves easily in ethanol essential oils plant oils and fragrance bases. Water solubility is limited and the material is typically incorporated into oil phases or alcohol based compositions. Due to its strong aromatic character and stability geraniol is widely used in fragrance cosmetics flavor systems and industrial aromatic formulations.
Properties and sensory performance
In fragrance compositions geraniol provides a soft floral rose like profile and enhances floral accords. It adds brightness and volume to aromatic blends. In cosmetic formulations the ingredient delivers a delicate floral scent to creams gels shampoos and oils while maintaining formulation stability.
Industry applications
Geraniol is used in perfumery cosmetics personal care products and aromatic systems. It is incorporated in perfumes creams shampoos soaps gels and aromatic oils. The ingredient is also widely used in flavor systems for beverages confectionery products and aromatic food additives. Additional applications include household fragrances scented candles and diffuser blends. Formula example
Geraniol 8 ml
Ethanol 96% 150 ml
Grape seed oil 80 ml
Jojoba oil 70 ml
Squalane 35 ml
Glycerin 50 g
Purified water 360 ml
Polysorbate 20 25 g
Preservative system 2 g
Ethanol geraniol and polysorbate are mixed to create a homogeneous aromatic base. In a separate vessel purified water and glycerin are blended until uniform. Plant oils and squalane are then incorporated and mixed until evenly distributed. The aromatic base is slowly introduced into the aqueous mixture under continuous mixing to form a stable emulsion system. In the final stage the preservative system is incorporated and pH is adjusted to a balanced range suitable for aqueous aromatic formulations. The result is a clear aromatic composition with a floral rose like scent.
Geraniol is designed for B2B manufacturers in cosmetics perfumery flavor production and household fragrance systems. The ingredient ensures stable aromatic performance formulation compatibility and reproducible results for scalable industrial and contract manufacturing processes.
