Concentrated Gold Tone for Clear Gel-Based Creations
Gel Color Gold, 100 ml is formulated for tinting transparent and translucent bases where the goal is to preserve clarity and depth of color rather than creating an opaque finish. It belongs to the wider range of Gel Food Coloring, a category built for coloring gel, wax and polymer-based materials, and delivers an even warm golden shade without clouding the substrate.
The largest application area for this pigment is decorative gel candle production, including container candles, floating candles and layered pours, where a golden tint creates the look of rich amber or honey-toned glow. The colorant is also widely used in resin casting for coasters, jewelry, decorative panels and other epoxy pieces, where transparency combined with a bold accent color is essential. It is equally popular in slime making and polymer clay crafts, as well as in decorative cosmetics for gel eyeliners, body glitter gels and body-art elements. In household chemistry, similar colorants are used to tint laundry gels and scented air fresheners, while in transparent soap making a golden shade is often used to imitate a molten metal effect within a decorative layer.
The recommended dosage is between 0.05 and 0.5 gram of colorant per 100 grams of base, with the exact amount depending on the desired intensity and the transparency of the final piece. The pigment is best introduced once the base is fully melted but has not yet begun to thicken — for wax and gel blends this usually happens around 60-70 degrees Celsius. Stir the colorant well before adding it to avoid uneven pigment distribution, and once it is mixed into the base, stir slowly to prevent air bubbles from forming.
Gold pairs well with other shades from the gel colorant line. For a warm amber tone it can be combined with Gel Colorant Red, 10 ml, while an emerald-and-gold layered effect works nicely with Sea Wave Gel Color, 10 ml. Striking contrast gradients can also be achieved together with Cornflower Gel Color, 10 ml, a combination frequently used in multi-layer candles and decorative pours.
The 100 ml size is well suited for studio and small-batch production: candle and resin workshops can use this volume across dozens of finished pieces, which allows testing formulations and keeping small production runs consistent without frequent reordering. Store the colorant in a tightly closed container, in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight, at room temperature, avoiding temperature swings and moisture getting into the bottle.
Layered Gold Gel Candle in a Glass Jar
Gel wax 250 g
Gel Color Gold 2 ml
Fragrance oil 4 ml
Decorative sand or shells 20 g
Melt the gel wax in a double boiler until fully liquid at around 70 degrees Celsius, remove from heat and let it cool slightly to about 60 degrees. Add the Gel Color Gold and stir gently until the color is even with no streaks, then mix in the fragrance oil and stir again. Layer the decorative sand or shells at the bottom of a glass jar, center the wick, pour the colored gel over the layer, and leave the candle to set at room temperature for at least 5-6 hours.
