DL-Panthenol Pro-Vitamin B5 functional ingredient for cosmetic formulation systems
DL-Panthenol also known as Pro-Vitamin B5 is a widely used cosmetic raw material applied in development of modern skin care and hair care formulations. The ingredient belongs to the category of functional cosmetic ingredients and can be incorporated into various formulation systems due to compatibility with aqueous solutions, gel textures and emulsion formulations.
DL-Panthenol is used in development of creams, serums, lotions, shampoos, conditioners and hair masks. The ingredient integrates easily into different cosmetic formulations and is used in laboratory formulation development as well as industrial cosmetic manufacturing. Due to formulation stability DL-Panthenol is frequently included in development of new cosmetic ingredient systems and functional complexes. The raw material is suitable for private label projects, contract manufacturing and large scale cosmetic production.
Properties and formulation interaction
Within cosmetic formulations DL-Panthenol functions as a conditioning ingredient evenly distributed throughout the formulation matrix. In creams, gels and serums the ingredient contributes to formation of smooth and uniform product textures.
In hair care formulations DL-Panthenol is incorporated into shampoos, conditioners and hair masks. In different cosmetic textures the ingredient contributes to smooth formulation structure and improved distribution of the product across the skin and hair surface.
Applications across industries
DL-Panthenol is used in development of cosmetic and personal care formulations.
In skin care formulations the ingredient is incorporated into creams, serums, gels, lotions and masks.
In hair care formulations it is used in shampoos, conditioners, hair masks and leave-in products.
In SPA formulations DL-Panthenol is included in professional skin and hair care systems.
In formulation laboratories the ingredient is used in development of modern cosmetic formulations and ingredient complexes.
Recipe for conditioning hair gel
Distilled water — 71 ml
Nettle hydrosol — 15 ml
Glycerin — 6 ml
DL-Panthenol — 3 g
Chamomile extract — 3 ml
Aloe extract — 1 ml
Cosmetic preservative — 1 ml
Preparation process
Distilled water is combined with nettle hydrosol to form the aqueous base of the formulation. Glycerin is incorporated and mixed until evenly distributed. DL-Panthenol is then introduced into the water phase and blended until completely dissolved.
Chamomile extract is added and the formulation is mixed until homogeneous. Aloe extract is incorporated and the mixture is blended until a stable gel texture is formed. At the final stage the preservative is added and the formulation is mixed until a stable cosmetic gel suitable for formulation development and manufacturing is obtained.
