DL-Panthenol Pro-Vitamin B5 functional ingredient for skin and hair care formulations
DL-Panthenol also known as Pro-Vitamin B5 is a widely used cosmetic ingredient applied in development of modern skin care and hair care formulations. The ingredient belongs to the category of functional cosmetic raw materials used in different formulation systems. DL-Panthenol is commonly incorporated into creams, serums, shampoos, conditioners, masks and other cosmetic products.
The ingredient can be easily integrated into aqueous solutions, gel systems and emulsion formulations. Due to compatibility with various cosmetic ingredients DL-Panthenol is widely used in formulation laboratories and industrial cosmetic manufacturing. The raw material is suitable for private label projects, contract manufacturing and large scale production of skin and hair care products.
Properties and formulation interaction
Within cosmetic systems DL-Panthenol functions as a conditioning ingredient evenly distributed throughout the formulation matrix. In creams, serums and gels the ingredient contributes to formation of smooth textures and improves product distribution across the skin surface.
In hair care formulations DL-Panthenol is incorporated into shampoos, conditioners and hair masks where it becomes part of the formulation system.

Recipe for hydrating skin serum
Distilled water — 70 ml
Lavender hydrosol — 15 ml
Glycerin — 6 ml
DL-Panthenol — 3 g
Aloe extract — 5 ml
Cosmetic preservative — 1 ml
Preparation process
Distilled water is combined with lavender hydrosol to form the aqueous base of the formulation. Glycerin is incorporated and mixed until evenly distributed. DL-Panthenol is then introduced into the water phase and blended until fully dissolved within the system.
Aloe extract is added and the formulation is mixed until a homogeneous composition is obtained. At the final stage the preservative is incorporated and the formulation is blended until a stable cosmetic serum suitable for formulation development and manufacturing is achieved.
