DL-Panthenol Pro-Vitamin B5 functional ingredient for cosmetic formulations
DL-Panthenol also known as Pro-Vitamin B5 is a widely used cosmetic raw material applied in development of modern skin care and hair care formulations. The ingredient belongs to the category of functional cosmetic ingredients and can be incorporated into different formulation systems due to compatibility with aqueous solutions, gel textures and emulsion formulations.
DL-Panthenol is commonly used in creams, serums, lotions, shampoos, conditioners and hair masks. The ingredient integrates easily into various cosmetic formulations and is used both in laboratory formulation development and industrial cosmetic manufacturing. Due to formulation stability DL-Panthenol is frequently included in development of new cosmetic formulations and ingredient complexes. The raw material is suitable for private label production, contract manufacturing and industrial cosmetic product development.
Properties and formulation interaction
Within cosmetic systems DL-Panthenol functions as a conditioning ingredient that distributes evenly throughout the formulation matrix. In creams, gels and serums the ingredient contributes to formation of smooth and uniform product textures.
In hair care formulations DL-Panthenol is incorporated into shampoos, conditioners and hair masks. In different cosmetic textures the ingredient supports smooth formulation structure and improves product distribution across the skin and hair surface.

Recipe for hydrating skin gel
Distilled water — 72 ml
Rose hydrosol — 15 ml
Glycerin — 6 ml
DL-Panthenol — 3 g
Cucumber extract — 3 ml
Aloe extract — 0.5 ml
Cosmetic preservative — 0.5 ml
Preparation process
Distilled water is combined with rose hydrosol to form the aqueous base of the formulation. Glycerin is incorporated and mixed until evenly distributed. DL-Panthenol is then introduced into the water phase and mixed until completely dissolved.
Cucumber extract is added and the formulation is mixed until homogeneous. Aloe extract is incorporated and the mixture is blended until a stable gel texture is formed. At the final stage the preservative is added and the formulation is mixed until a stable cosmetic gel suitable for formulation development and manufacturing is obtained.
