A Firm White Formula Built for High-Volume Cosmetic Manufacturing
Manufacturers scaling up production of solid soap bars and personal care items need a base that behaves consistently batch after batch. White Opaque 50/50 belongs to the Melt and Pour Soap Bases category, which brings together bases of different densities and opacity levels for cosmetic production. The 50/50 ratio strikes a balance between firmness and flexibility, allowing the material to hold intricate mold details while remaining easy to unmold without cracking.
This base melts at a moderate temperature, typically between 140 and 160 Fahrenheit, and does not require prolonged heating. It is best melted in small batches of roughly 2 to 3 pounds at a time using a double boiler to avoid overheating and surface bubbling. Once the melted mass cools to around 120-130 Fahrenheit, additives can be introduced, including fragrance oils, essential oils, cosmetic pigments, glycerin, botanical extracts, or milk powders. Fragrance loads generally sit around 2-3 percent of total weight, while carrier oils such as sweet almond or castor should stay below 5 percent to prevent softening the final bar.
The primary use of this base is in the production of opaque solid bars with strong pigment coverage, which is why it performs well for colorful, layered designs and consistent branding across large production runs. Beyond bar soap, manufacturers rely on this base for hotel amenity bars, promotional giveaways, gift sets, and spa-line products. It pairs well with clear bases for layered visual effects and with exfoliating additives like ground walnut shell or sea salt for scrub-style bars.
For teams comparing density profiles or running parallel production lines, the White Opaque 60/40 in a 12 kg pack offers a slightly different ratio worth testing at scale. For smaller trial runs or formulation testing, the White Opaque 60/40 in a 1 kg pack and the softer Neri White Base 1 kg are convenient options, often blended together to fine-tune the final texture.
Store the base in a dry area away from direct sunlight and heat sources, keeping the original packaging sealed between uses. Under proper storage conditions, the material retains its working properties for an extended period, which matters for facilities planning inventory several months ahead. The 12 kg format is well suited for conveyor-style production, reducing per-unit packaging waste and ensuring predictable results across consecutive batches.
