Bright citrus note for revitalizing skincare formulations
Complex CO2 Extract Citrus in a compact 5 gram size is a concentrate obtained through carbon dioxide extraction from citrus peel and pulp. This low-temperature extraction method preserves a wide range of naturally occurring active compounds, essential oils and antioxidants that are often lost during conventional oil extraction processes. The product belongs to the CO2 Extracts category, which brings together concentrated natural ingredients for cosmetic formulations of any scale, and its small packaging makes it well suited for home formulation and trial batches before scaling up production.
The most common application of the citrus complex lies in facial and body skincare, where it functions as a toning and refreshing ingredient in creams, serums, toners and lotions. Citrus compounds are widely recognized for their ability to improve skin texture and support its natural balance, which is why the extract is frequently included in formulas for oily and blemish-prone skin, as well as in products addressing signs of tired-looking skin. Beyond facial care, the extract is actively used in body care manufacturing - shower gels, after-sun oils, anti-cellulite formulations - where its ability to impart a light, invigorating freshness is highly valued. In the fragrance industry, citrus CO2 extract serves as a natural top note in compositions, while in household chemical production it is used as a natural scenting component for products positioned as plant-based.
The recommended dosage ranges from 0.5 to 2 grams of extract per 100 grams of the finished base. The ingredient should be added once the main mass of the emulsion has cooled to around 40 degrees, since higher temperatures can degrade volatile aromatic compounds and reduce the extract effectiveness. The citrus complex pairs well with other CO2 extracts, such as Complex CO2 Moisturizing, allowing formulators to build multifunctional blends with both toning and hydrating properties. Another effective combination is with the Complex of CO2 extracts Moisturizing and nourishing, which adds nourishing compounds to the citrus note, while formulations focused on restoring the skin barrier benefit from adding Chia CO2 Extract.
The extract should be stored in a tightly sealed container, in a cool dark place protected from direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations, as volatile citrus compounds are sensitive to oxidation and evaporation. Once opened, the product should be used within a reasonable timeframe to avoid prolonged air exposure. Soap making is also among the industries where citrus extract is valued as an aromatic and refreshing component in natural formulations.
