Salcare SC 60 as a cationic conditioning polymer for mild and well-balanced cleansing formulations
Salcare SC 60 is a cationic polymer used as a functional ingredient in modern formulation systems to improve softness, conditioning and overall user experience. Its main role is to reduce the harshness of surfactants and create a smoother feel without adding heaviness to the formula.
In B2B manufacturing this raw material is highly valued because it is easy to work with. It integrates into different systems without requiring complex reformulation and performs consistently during scale-up. This makes it a reliable choice for contract manufacturing and industrial production.
Properties and functional role
Salcare SC 60 acts as a conditioning polymer. Due to its cationic nature it interacts with surfaces and forms a thin layer that provides a smooth and soft feel.
Within formulation it also reduces the aggressiveness of surfactants. Even strong cleansing systems become more comfortable without compromising performance. It remains stable and does not disrupt emulsions or gel structures.
Properties and result
Products containing this ingredient feel milder and more pleasant during use. The foam becomes creamier and the overall application is smoother.
From a technical perspective it may slightly increase viscosity, helping to create a more stable texture. It does not negatively affect clarity or appearance when used correctly.
Purpose
Used as a functional ingredient in shampoos, shower gels, facial cleansers and mild cleansing creams. Especially useful in formulations where reducing harshness is important.
Applied in cosmetics, SPA products, household formulations and large-scale production systems.
Application
Suitable for a wide range of cleansing products. Compatible with nonionic and amphoteric surfactants such as Decyl Glucoside and Coco Betaine.
Can be added into water phase or into the finished base. Easy to disperse and does not require complex processing conditions.
Recipe
Mild conditioning shower gel
Ingredients:
Water — 65 g
Glycerin — 4 g
Salcare SC 60 — 2 g
Xanthan Gum — 0.4 g
Coco Betaine — 6 g
Decyl Glucoside — 6 g
Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate — 4 g
Phenoxyethanol — 0.8 g
Panthenol — 2 g
Aloe extract — 4 g

Technology: Heat the water phase to 70°C and fully hydrate the thickener. Add Salcare SC 60 and mix until uniform. Introduce surfactants with gentle mixing. Cool down to 40°C, then add actives and preservative. Adjust pH to a mild acidic range.
Instruction: Avoid excessive mixing after adding surfactants to prevent foam formation. Monitor pH carefully, as cationic systems are sensitive to changes.
Manufacturing stability
Salcare SC 60 provides consistent performance in industrial production. It scales easily and maintains stable texture and functionality across batches, making it suitable for large-scale manufacturing and contract production.
