Instructions for Cream Preparation:
- Sanitization: Thoroughly sanitize all equipment (beakers, stirring rods, containers) with isopropyl alcohol and allow them to air dry completely.
- Prepare Phase A (Oil Phase): In a heat-resistant beaker, combine emulsifying wax, shea butter, and jojoba oil. Gently heat on a double boiler until all solid ingredients are completely melted and the oil phase reaches 70-75°C (158-167°F).
- Prepare Phase B (Water Phase): In a separate heat-resistant beaker, combine distilled water and vegetable glycerin. Heat on a double boiler to the same temperature as Phase A (70-75°C / 158-167°F).
- Emulsification: Once both phases reach the target temperature, slowly pour the hot water phase (Phase B) into the hot oil phase (Phase A), while continuously mixing with a hand blender or stick blender on low speed. Blend for 2-3 minutes until a stable emulsion forms. As the cream cools, it will thicken.
- Cooling and Poppyderm Addition: Continue to stir the emulsion periodically as it cools down to below 40°C (104°F). Once cooled, add the Poppyderm directly to the cream and mix thoroughly until fully dispersed. Since Poppyderm is oil-soluble, it should integrate well into the emulsion.
- Add Phase C (Cool Down Phase): After Poppyderm is incorporated, add Panthenol, Allantoin, Preservative, and Vitamin E oil. Mix well after each addition to ensure even distribution.
- pH Adjustment (Recommended): Check the pH of the finished cream. For facial creams, an ideal pH is typically between 5.0 and 6.0. Adjust if necessary using diluted lactic acid (to lower) or sodium bicarbonate solution (to raise), adding drop by drop and mixing thoroughly between additions.
- Packaging: Transfer the finished cream into clean, sterilized jars or airless pump bottles.
Recommendations for Use:
- Integration of Poppyderm: As Poppyderm is oil-soluble, it's best added to the oil phase during the heating process for optimal dissolution, or to the cooled emulsion where it can be dispersed as a fine powder, especially if it's already a micro-dispersed powder. Ensure thorough mixing to avoid clumping.
- Dosage: A 2% concentration of Poppyderm in a facial cream is effective for daily soothing and protection. Adjust based on desired intensity.
- Storage: Store the finished cream in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight to maintain the stability and efficacy of the active ingredients.
- Application: Apply a small amount of cream to cleansed face and neck morning and night, gently massaging until absorbed.
- Patch Test: Always perform a patch test on a small, inconspicuous area of skin before full application, especially if you have highly sensitive or reactive skin.
- Consistency: The cream's consistency can be adjusted by altering the percentage of emulsifying wax and oils.
