Poly-Helixan for Hydrating Serums Creams and Professional Face Masks
Poly-Helixan is a water-soluble cosmetic active based on purified snail secretion filtrate. It is used in facial and body care products developed to support hydration, softness, smoothness, and a more conditioned skin appearance. Within the Mylo Opt catalog, the ingredient is listed in the Cosmetic Actives Wholesale category.
INCI: Snail Secretion Filtrate.
The liquid format is suitable for aqueous serums, gels, emulsions, sheet-mask essences, ampoules, after-shave products, and professional treatments. It can be incorporated into the water phase without preparing an oil dispersion.
Snail secretion filtrate may contain naturally derived water-soluble protein fractions, polysaccharides, organic acids, and other constituents. The exact analytical composition depends on the manufacturing process and batch specification.
Hydration-focused skin care
Poly-Helixan is commonly used in formulas for skin that feels dry, tight, or dehydrated.
In lightweight serums, it can be combined with sodium hyaluronate, betaine, glycerin, panthenol, amino acids, and botanical polysaccharides.
These combinations are suitable for daily products designed to leave the skin feeling softer and more comfortable without a heavy lipid film.
For dry skin creams, the active can be supported by ceramides, squalane, phytosterols, jojoba oil, and other barrier-focused ingredients.
Mature skin formulas
The ingredient may be incorporated into products for skin with uneven texture, visible dryness, and age-related changes in appearance.
Suitable complementary ingredients include peptides, niacinamide, ceramides, tocopherol, squalane, and mild botanical extracts.
Daily moisturizers can use a lighter oil phase, while night creams and treatment masks may include richer emollients and barrier lipids.
Poly-Helixan is also suitable for neck and decollete care and may be used around the eyes when the complete formulation is specifically developed for that area.
Masks and ampoule treatments
Poly-Helixan can be incorporated into sheet-mask essences, hydrogels, cream masks, and selected alginate systems.
In aqueous masks, it blends with betaine, glycerin, panthenol, sodium hyaluronate, and hydrosols.
Clear gel systems should be tested for changes in clarity, viscosity, color, and compatibility with carbomer, xanthan gum, or cellulose-based rheology modifiers.
Professional cosmetic products may include the active in finishing masks, ampoule concentrates, and lightweight treatment creams.
After-shave applications
The ingredient is suitable for after-shave gels, lightweight emulsions, and soothing hydration serums.
It can be combined with panthenol, aloe, betaine, allantoin, and gentle humectants. High alcohol levels and intense fragrance should be limited when the formula is intended for freshly shaved skin.
Poly-Helixan is also suitable for men's moisturizers and treatment masks with a light sensory profile and minimal residue.
Compatibility and formulation design
The active can be paired with water-soluble humectants, peptides, niacinamide, plant extracts, and polysaccharides.
In emulsions, Poly-Helixan should be added separately from the heated oil phase. Squalane, ceramides, oils, and emollients belong in the lipid phase, while the filtrate is incorporated during cool-down.
The raw material may contribute its own color and characteristic odor. This should be considered in clear gels, white creams, and fragrance-free products.
Before commercial production, evaluate pH, viscosity, appearance, odor, preservation, and long-term stability.
Processing and storage
Poly-Helixan can be added to the aqueous phase in a cold-process formula or introduced during emulsion cool-down below 40°C.
A practical use level is approximately 2-5%. Daily products can begin at the lower end of the range, while concentrated formulas require additional sensory and stability testing.
Gentle mixing is normally sufficient. Excessive high-shear processing may introduce air into fluid gels and serums.
The active does not replace a preservation system. Water-based products require suitable broad-spectrum microbial protection.
Store Poly-Helixan in a tightly closed container protected from direct light and excessive heat, following the batch documentation.
Poly-Helixan daily hydration cream
Purified Water 67 ml
Linden Hydrosol 9 ml
Poly-Helixan 4 ml
Glycerin 3 ml
Betaine 3 g
Jojoba Oil 4 ml
Squalane 4 ml
Emulsifier 4 g
Panthenol 1 ml
Preservative 1 ml
Dissolve betaine in purified water and add glycerin. In a separate vessel, combine jojoba oil, squalane, and the emulsifier. Heat both phases according to the emulsifier processing instructions, then combine and mix until a uniform emulsion forms. During cool-down below 40°C, incorporate linden hydrosol, panthenol, Poly-Helixan, and preservative. Mix gently and verify pH, viscosity, and stability before filling.
