Cherry Pigment concentrated colorant for stable shade control in decorative and base formulations
Cherry Pigment is a high dispersion colorant used to create tones ranging from clear red to deep burgundy in cosmetic and related systems. Depending on the grade it can be based on mineral or approved organic pigments. INCI is composition dependent and may include Iron Oxides CI 77491 CI 77499 or compliant organic colorants. It is applied in formulations where color stability predictable tone and controlled intensity are required.
What it is and where it is used
Cherry Pigment is used in decorative cosmetics including lip products glosses eyeshadows blushes powders and foundation systems. It is also applied in soap bases wax products and other colored matrices.
In formulation development it is used as a primary or corrective color component to build target shades and adjust depth. It is suitable for systems where consistent visual output is required.
How it works
The pigment consists of insoluble particles dispersed within the base. Color is generated through light interaction with particle surfaces and internal structure.
Shade intensity depends on concentration dispersion quality and base transparency.
Properties
Intense cherry to burgundy color range
High color strength at low levels
Stable under standard storage conditions
Insoluble particulate structure
Compatible with a wide range of bases
Suitable for powder cream and liquid systems
Applications across industries
In cosmetics it is used in decorative products and tinted bases
In soap making it is used to color melt bases
In wax products it is used for color adjustment
In formulation design it is used for shade creation and correction
Behavior in formulation
Cherry Pigment does not dissolve and requires proper dispersion for uniform appearance. It can be introduced directly or pre dispersed in oil glycerin or propanediol.
Insufficient mixing may lead to particle agglomeration therefore mechanical dispersion improves consistency. In emulsions the phase selection depends on the carrier.
How to use
Pre disperse for optimal uniformity
Add into oil phase for compatible systems
Introduce under continuous mixing
Adjust shear based on formulation requirements
Recommended usage level
0.05 to 2 percent for light tinting
2 to 5 percent for deeper shades
Final level adjusted according to base and target color
Formulation example
Colored body cream with cherry tone
Purified Water — 700 ml
Emulsifying Wax — 50 g
Sweet Almond Oil — 100 ml
Cherry Pigment — 3 g
Glycerin — 40 ml
Panthenol — 10 ml
Phenoxyethanol Ethylhexylglycerin — 5 ml
Berry Cream Fragrance Oil — 3 ml
Processing
Water and oil phases are heated separately to the same temperature. Cherry Pigment is pre dispersed in part of the oil phase.
The phases are combined with mixing to form an emulsion and then cooled.
During cooling actives preservative and fragrance are added. Mixing continues until uniform.
Important considerations
Uniform dispersion determines color quality
Shade varies depending on base type
Excess pigment may affect texture
Final result depends on formulation design and processing method
