Sea Buckthorn Oil Unrefined 1 L

A Concentrated Source of Carotenoids for High-Volume Skincare Manufacturing

Unrefined sea buckthorn oil in a 1 liter package belongs to the liquid basic oils category and represents a concentrated extract of sea buckthorn berries, rich in carotenoids, tocopherols and unsaturated fatty acids. This bulk size is designed for small manufacturing lines, studio production and formulation labs that require a steady, dependable supply of raw material for the regular batch production of creams, serums, balms and repair formulas. The deep orange-red hue of the oil reflects its high concentration of active pigments, which are responsible for its notable regenerating and antioxidant behavior in finished products.

The strongest global demand for sea buckthorn oil comes from the skincare manufacturing sector, where formulators of anti-aging serums, products for dry or compromised skin, lip balms and after-sun repair blends rely on it for supporting the skin barrier and delivering a rich nutrient profile. Beyond cosmetics, the oil is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry for capsule production and topical formulations, and in the food sector as a carotenoid-rich ingredient for functional foods and dietary supplements. To a lesser degree, it also appears in artisan soap recipes and candle formulations valued for its warm color and aromatic character.

In industrial formulations the oil is typically added at the final cooling stage, once the base emulsion has dropped to 35-40 degrees, preserving the heat-sensitive carotenoids and fatty acids. Recommended usage rates in finished creams and serums range from 3 to 10 percent of total formula weight, while lip balms and localized concentrates can tolerate 20 to 30 percent. Because of its strong natural pigment, the oil tends to color lighter emulsions, so formulators often balance it with less pigmented oils when a neutral shade is required.

Sea buckthorn oil pairs well with lighter, fast-absorbing oils, allowing technologists to fine-tune the texture of the finished product. For instance, blending in mongongo oil softens the overall richness of a formula and speeds absorption, while adding marula oil boosts the nourishing profile without weighing the product down. Formulas aimed at calming irritated skin frequently pair sea buckthorn with St. John's Wort oil, which complements it with a similar supportive action.

The oil should be stored in a tightly sealed dark glass or food-grade plastic container, away from direct sunlight, at a temperature not exceeding 20 degrees. Under proper storage conditions the product retains its stability and the activity of its components throughout the stated shelf life, which is particularly important for manufacturers working with large batch volumes and planning long-term procurement.

Repairing Night Cream with Sea Buckthorn

Sea buckthorn oil unrefined 20 g

Marula oil 15 g

Shea butter 25 g

Emulsifying wax 10 g

Distilled water 100 ml

Melt the shea butter and emulsifying wax together in a water bath at around 65 degrees until fully liquid, then slowly add the warmed distilled water while stirring continuously until the mixture thickens into a cream. Remove from heat and let it cool to about 40 degrees before blending in the marula oil and sea buckthorn oil, stirring until the texture becomes smooth and uniform. Transfer the finished cream into clean jars and allow it to set at room temperature for a few hours before use.
