Candles

Fragrance premix

For repeat production it is handy to prepare a fragrance premix: Mandevilla oil with its fixative and supporting notes in the approved ratio, kept in an amber glass bottle. Production example: hand cream, 5 kg

Heat a water phase of 3600 g water and 200 g glycerin, and an oil phase of 500 g shea butter, 350 g sweet almond oil and 220 g cetearyl alcohol based emulsifier, both to 75 °C. Combine, homogenise and cool. At 40 °C add 50 g preservative, 25 g tocopherol, 30 ml of Mandevilla oil and 10 ml of vanilla extract in oil, then mix until smooth. Keep the container closed in a cool, dark stockroom, away from heaters and direct light.

Pre-blending for consistency

Mix mandevilla with its supporting notes in a separate vessel before each run and let the blend rest for a day or two. A matured pre-blend gives a smoother floral profile and makes batches easier to match.
