Instructions:
- In a clean beaker, slowly add Carbomer to the deionized water while stirring vigorously until fully dispersed and hydrated. This may take some time.
- Add Glycerin and stir until well combined.
- In a separate beaker, dissolve L-Carnitine and Caffeine in a small amount of water. Once dissolved, add this solution to the main beaker and stir.
- Add the Preservative and Essential Oil (followed by Polysorbate 20 to help solubilize the oil) to the mixture and stir well.
- Slowly add Triethanolamine (TEA) drop by drop while stirring, monitoring the pH until it reaches the desired range of 5.5-6.0. This will also thicken the gel.
- Mix thoroughly until a clear and uniform gel is formed.
- Transfer the gel to a clean container.
Application Recommendations:
- Perform a patch test on a small area of skin before widespread use to check for any individual sensitivity.
- Incorporate L-Carnitine at the recommended percentage to achieve the desired effects. Typical usage rates range from 1% to 5% in cosmetic formulations.
- Ensure thorough mixing of L-Carnitine in the aqueous phase of your formulations.
- Store the finished product in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and heat.
- L-Carnitine is water-soluble and should be incorporated into the water phase of emulsions or used in water-based products like gels and serums.
- Consider combining L-Carnitine with other active ingredients known for their anti-cellulite or anti-aging properties for synergistic effects.
- The pH of your final formulation should be within the optimal range for skin (around 4.5-6.5) to ensure stability and efficacy of L-Carnitine and other ingredients. Adjust pH accordingly.
