Product Description
Why refined coffee butter fits small-batch skincare formulations
Refined coffee butter is produced by pressing roasted coffee beans and then purifying the resulting fat, which keeps the dense texture and valuable fatty acids while removing the strong aroma and sediment typical of unrefined material. This compact 10 gram pack belongs to the Butters section and is intended primarily for home formulators, trial batches and testing new recipes before committing to larger quantities.
The most common use of coffee butter worldwide is in body care products: anti-cellulite creams, warming wraps, lip balms, hand and foot creams, and treatments for tired or rough skin, where its ability to soften and smooth the surface of the skin is particularly valued. It also appears in perfume compositions built around a coffee accord and occasionally in color cosmetics where a firmer texture is needed. Solid at room temperature, the butter melts on contact with skin, leaving a light film without a greasy feel.
In formulations, coffee butter is typically added during the oil phase, melted in a water bath at around 45-55 degrees Celsius together with other solid and liquid oils, then cooled before heat-sensitive ingredients are introduced. Recommended usage in a finished product ranges from 3 to 15 percent depending on the product type: lighter creams need only the lower end of the range, while dense balms and sticks call for a higher share. The butter pairs well with other solid oils, such as refined Karite (Shea) butter, which softens the overall texture and adds extra nourishment. Another useful combination is with refined coffee oil in a 5 gram pack for even smaller comparative test batches, or with unrefined coffee butter when a more pronounced natural color and aroma from raw material is desired.
The butter should be stored in a tightly closed container, in a cool and dark place away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which helps preserve the stability of the fatty acids throughout the shelf life. Before use, warming the container slightly makes the mass easier to scoop and blend.
