Why refined coffee butter suits body care and gourmand fragrance blends
Refined coffee butter is produced by pressing fat from coffee beans and then purifying it, which gives the material a firm, stable texture suitable for both artisan and larger-scale formulation work. This ingredient belongs to the Butters category, which brings together dense plant fats used for creams, balms, sticks and other formulas that need a solid structure at room temperature. The 1 kg pack size is aimed at small-batch studios and workshops that need a steady supply of raw material without frequent reordering, as well as at brands testing formulas before scaling up production.
The main area of demand for coffee butter is skin care: body creams and oils, anti-cellulite formulas, hand and foot balms, scrubs and solid sticks. The fat extracted from coffee beans is rich in natural lipids and retains traces of caffeine, making it a popular ingredient for products aimed at tired-looking skin and for massage lines. Beyond cosmetics, the butter is used in scented candle and sachet production thanks to its distinct coffee note, and it also appears in gourmand perfume compositions where a warm, roasted accord is desired.
In formulations, coffee butter is typically melted together with other oil-phase ingredients at 60-70 degrees Celsius before the blend is cooled to set its structure. A recommended usage rate in creams and balms is 5 to 20 percent of total weight, while solid lip balms and sticks can go up to 30 percent. Coffee butter pairs well with other exotic butters: for example, with Kukui Nut Butter 25 g for a lighter feel on skin, with Murumuru Butter, 10 g for a smoother, meltier texture, and with Sea Buckthorn Butter 30 g to boost the nourishing profile of the finished product.
Store the butter in a tightly closed container, in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight, which helps keep its texture stable over long periods. Before use in production batches it is worth checking the consistency of the raw material, particularly if automated filling equipment will be used downstream.
