What keeps skin soft when the air around it turns dry
Maintaining long-lasting hydration is one of the biggest challenges in skincare formulation, and this is exactly where a plant-derived natural moisturizing factor complex called Kemiderm NMF Vegetale proves its value. This ingredient belongs to the category of moisturizing actives, which brings together components able to bind water in the upper layers of the skin and keep hydration levels stable regardless of external conditions. The 1 liter packaging is aimed at studio-scale and small industrial production, giving manufacturers a reliable stock for regular batches of finished products without frequent reordering.
The mechanism behind this complex mimics the skin's own natural moisturizing factor: plant-derived amino acids, sugars and mineral compounds form a water-binding network on the skin surface that reduces transepidermal water loss. As a result, skin stays softer, more elastic and less prone to flaking, which makes the ingredient particularly valuable for dry, dehydrated and mature skin formulations. It is widely used in day and night creams, serums, body lotions, toners, sheet and cream masks, as well as in products designed for sensitive skin. Beyond conventional skincare, similar actives are also applied in household chemistry, for example in mild hand gels and lotions meant to offset the drying effect of surfactants.
The complex is heat sensitive, so it should be added to the water phase during the final stage of production, once the batch has cooled to 35–40 degrees Celsius. Higher temperatures may reduce the activity of the moisturizing molecules, which makes temperature control an important production detail. The recommended usage level typically ranges from 2 to 5 percent of the total formula weight, adjusted depending on the type of product and the desired intensity of hydration.
This active pairs well with other barrier-supporting ingredients. In combined formulations it is frequently used alongside Pantrofina NMF, which enhances water retention and barrier repair. For formulas focused on skin renewal, formulators often add Exo-P Peptide, while for a gentler hydration approach suited to sensitive skin, rice milk is a popular addition that softens the overall texture of the finished product.
Store the complex in a tightly closed container, in a dry place at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Once opened, it is best to use the content within a reasonable time frame while following basic hygiene practices when measuring out the product.
Hydrating night cream base
Distilled water 680 g
Light emollient oil 90 g
Emulsifying wax 50 g
Kemiderm NMF Vegetale 45 g
Glycerin 30 g
Broad spectrum preservative 8 g
Fragrance oil 2 g
Melt
the emollient oil together with the emulsifying wax over a water bath until
fully combined, and separately heat the water to a matching temperature of
around 70 degrees Celsius. Combine both phases while stirring steadily until a
smooth emulsion forms. Cool the mixture down to 38 degrees, then add glycerin,
Kemiderm NMF Vegetale and the preservative, stirring until fully dissolved.
Finally blend in the fragrance oil, mix well and pour the finished cream into
jars for packaging.
