A concentrated berry antioxidant for serums, tonics and functional blends
Supercritical CO2 extraction captures the full range of active compounds from cranberry fruit without heat damage or solvent residue, which is why this type of concentrate is valued far more highly by formulators than simple alcohol or oil macerates. CO2 Cranberry Extract 5 g belongs to the CO2 Extracts category, a collection of dense, highly concentrated plant extracts suited for home experimentation, small trial batches and early-stage formula development before scaling up to larger volumes.
The main demand for cranberry CO2 extract comes from facial and body skincare, where it is used in antioxidant serums, toning lotions, products for oily or blemish-prone skin, and formulas designed to support skin firmness and reduce redness. Rich in organic acids and polyphenols, the extract helps even out skin tone and reinforces antioxidant protection in daily-use products. Beyond cosmetics, cranberry CO2 concentrates are widely used in the food industry for flavoring beverages, confectionery and functional foods, as well as in nutraceutical and dietary supplement development, thanks to their natural antioxidant profile and pleasant tart character.
The extract blends well with other CO2 concentrates when building layered functional or aromatic compositions. In warming or circulation-boosting blends, cranberry is often paired with Ginger CO2 extract, which adds a stimulating effect and supports microcirculation. For calming and balancing formulas, it works well alongside Hop CO2 Extract, while refreshing gels for oily skin benefit from the addition of Peppermint CO2 Extract.
Recommended usage in cosmetic formulas ranges from 0.1 to 1 percent of total product weight, while food and beverage applications require individual testing depending on the intended flavor intensity. The extract should be introduced at the final cooling stage, at a temperature no higher than 40 degrees Celsius, to preserve heat-sensitive compounds. Since pure CO2 extracts do not mix directly with water, it is best to pre-disperse the concentrate in a small amount of oil phase or emulsifier before adding it to a water-based formula. Store the product in a tightly sealed container, away from direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations, to maintain its activity throughout the shelf life.
