A gentle woody note valued in perfumery and skincare formulations
Ho wood essential oil is produced through steam distillation of the wood from a tree native to China and Taiwan. This oil is prized mainly as a natural source of linalool in high concentration, which makes it a sought-after raw material in the perfume industry for building floral and woody accords, as well as in cosmetic manufacturing thanks to its pleasant fragrance profile. The product belongs to the Essential Oils section, which brings together natural concentrates used across industries ranging from perfumery to household chemical production.
Around the world, ho wood oil is often treated as a more accessible substitute for rosewood oil, since the two share a similar aroma and composition while ho wood harvesting is managed under considerably gentler regulations. This is why perfumers and cosmetic manufacturers increasingly switch to this ingredient when developing new formulas for creams, lotions, body oils, and hair care products. Typical dosage ranges from 0.5 to 2 percent of the total finished product mass, and the oil is added at the final stage, once the base mixture has cooled to no more than 40 degrees, to preserve its volatile aromatic compounds.
Beyond perfumery, ho wood essential oil is used in candle fragrance blends, home fragrance sprays, and household chemical products aimed at a natural scent profile. In skincare applications, it is sometimes added in small concentrations to relaxing massage blends and to compositions for aromatherapy diffusers and sachets. Thanks to its soft woody-floral character, the oil pairs well with citrus, floral, and other woody essential oils, rounding out and strengthening the overall composition.
When working with this raw material, it is worth noting that it combines nicely with aromatically related products, such as Siamese Wood Essential Oil, which brings a warmer resinous note to a blend, as well as with Xo Tree Essential Oil from a related line of woody oils, allowing formulators to build multi-layered fragrance accords. For larger production batches requiring a more pronounced woody character, it is worth considering Guaiac tree essential oil, which nicely complements the lightness of ho wood with a deeper base note.
The 10 ml packaging is well suited for home cosmetic making, trial perfume batches, and small test series, where evaluating how the oil behaves in a specific formula matters more than large raw material investment. Store the product tightly closed in a dark glass bottle, in a cool place protected from direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations, to keep the aromatic compounds stable throughout its shelf life.
