Why Jojoba Granules Are Replacing Plastic Microbeads in Exfoliating Formulas
Jojoba Granules White are a fine, biodegradable exfoliating material derived from jojoba wax and processed into rounded particles of varying size. This ingredient is widely used in the manufacturing of face and body scrubs, exfoliating shower gels, peeling masks and certain decorative cosmetic products. Technically the material belongs to the category of Waxes for cosmetics, though unlike conventional formulation waxes it does not thicken or stabilize an emulsion — its job is purely mechanical, gently sloughing off dead skin cells without causing micro tears. This property has made jojoba granules one of the most sought after replacements for polyethylene microbeads, which have been banned in numerous countries due to their accumulation in waterways.
The primary industrial application is large scale and small batch cosmetic manufacturing: body and facial scrubs, peeling gels, exfoliating lip balms, toothpaste formulations requiring a mild abrasive texture, and even certain industrial hand cleansing products where gentle mechanical cleaning is needed without harsh chemical action. The granules fully melt at approximately 60-70 degrees Celsius, so when incorporating them into a hot emulsion they should be added during the cooling phase, while in cold gel bases they are mixed in right before pouring to ensure even distribution without settling. Typical dosage ranges from 3 to 15 percent of total formula weight depending on the desired abrasiveness level.
Jojoba granules pair well with other waxy components in a formulation, such as Natural Beeswax, which adds firmness and structural stability to a scrub bar, or with botanical waxes for creating more complex balms and solid exfoliating bars. For formulations focused on nourishment, many manufacturers combine jojoba granules with Olive Wax, which contributes extra softness and a light residual sheen after application. In spa and massage studio settings, jojoba granules are sometimes blended into warming massage formulas alongside Natura-tec Argan Massage Candle Wax, producing a dual effect of warm massage plus gentle exfoliation.
The 1 kg packaging is suited for workshops, small production lines and cosmetic development labs that need consistent raw material supply and the ability to scale a formula without recalculating ratios with every purchase. The product requires no special storage conditions beyond a dry room at ambient temperature in a tightly sealed container away from direct sunlight and moisture, which preserves its free flowing texture and prevents clumping.
Coffee and Jojoba Exfoliating Body Bar
Jojoba Granules White 50 g
Cocoa butter 120 g
Shea butter 60 g
Ground coffee 30 g
Sweet almond oil 40 ml
Melt the cocoa butter and shea butter together over a water bath at around 65 degrees Celsius until fully liquid, then remove from heat and let the mixture cool to about 45 degrees. Stir in the sweet almond oil, followed by the ground coffee and jojoba granules, mixing gently until the particles are evenly suspended throughout the base. Pour the mixture into silicone molds and allow it to set at room temperature for at least four hours before unmolding and using as a firm exfoliating body bar.
