Red Currant Powder Extract concentrated botanical active for cosmetic and functional formulations
Red Currant Powder Extract is a fine powdered ingredient obtained from Ribes rubrum berries, preserving polyphenols, anthocyanins, and naturally occurring antioxidant compounds. INCI Ribes Rubrum Fruit Extract. The material is used in cosmetic, food, and functional systems as a source of natural color and bioactive components. It is applied in formulations where consistent dispersion, color stability, and compatibility with aqueous media are required.
What it is and where it is used
Red Currant Powder Extract is incorporated into creams, serums, gels, and masks for face and body care. It is also used in dietary supplements, beverages, and functional products, as well as SPA-oriented formulations.
The ingredient is selected for systems that require natural coloration, support of oxidative stability, and enhancement of water phase performance.
How it works
The extract contains anthocyanins and polyphenols that disperse in aqueous media forming a uniform phase. In cosmetic formulations it contributes to stability and supports the sensory profile without altering base structure.
In functional and food systems it provides natural color and contributes to formulation value through its plant-derived composition.
Properties
High content of polyphenolic compounds
Natural red to ruby color profile
Good dispersibility in water based systems
Compatible with glycerin and hydrophilic components
Suitable for cosmetic and functional formulations
Mild natural berry aroma
Applications across industries
In cosmetics it is used in creams, serums, gels, and masks
In food and beverage it is used in supplements and functional drinks
In SPA applications it is used in masks and body treatments
In formulation design it is used for color adjustment and plant-based positioning
Behavior in formulation
Red Currant Powder Extract disperses in aqueous systems and hydrogels. It is not soluble in oils and requires emulsification when used in oil-containing systems.
For uniform distribution, pre-dispersion in glycerin or water is recommended. In emulsions, phase selection depends on the carrier system.
How to use
Add to the water phase during mixing
Pre-disperse in glycerin for improved uniformity
Avoid excessive temperature during processing
Recommended usage level
0.5 to 5 percent depending on formulation
Typical cosmetic range 1 to 3 percent
Adjust level according to color intensity and formulation design
Formulation example
Gel mask with Red Currant Powder Extract
Purified Water — 620 ml
Aloe Vera Gel — 150 ml
Red Currant Powder Extract — 10 g
Glycerin — 30 ml
Panthenol — 10 ml
Phenoxyethanol Ethylhexylglycerin — 5 ml
Red Berry Fragrance Oil — 2 ml
Processing
Glycerin and Red Currant Powder Extract are added to the water phase and mixed until evenly dispersed. Aloe vera gel is incorporated and the mixture is homogenized.
During cooling Panthenol, preservative, and fragrance are added. Mixing continues until a uniform system is obtained.
Important considerations
Sensitive to heat and light exposure
Store in dry and protected conditions
Color uniformity depends on dispersion quality
Final performance depends on complete formulation composition
