Bladderwrack Extract for Bulk Body-Care and SPA Manufacturing
Fucus vesiculosus, commonly known as bladderwrack, is one of the most demanded brown algae extracts in the global body-care and SPA industry. The main worldwide demand for this ingredient comes from labs and production lines making anti-cellulite creams, firming gels, body wraps and thalassotherapy products for salons and wellness centers. The 1 liter packaging is designed for exactly this scale — studio and industrial manufacturing where batch-to-batch stability matters and the ingredient needs to be dosed in tens or hundreds of liters of finished product. This item belongs to the Liquid Extracts category, which gathers water-alcohol-glycerin plant extracts used at comparable dosages and production stages.
The value of fucus extract lies in its natural iodine content, alginic polysaccharides and mineral salts extracted into a bioavailable form. Because of this, the extract is widely used in formulas aimed at improving skin firmness, supporting microcirculation and addressing the visible signs of cellulite — this remains the single most requested application for this raw material across the global cosmetic industry. Beyond anti-cellulite lines, the extract is added to vein and capillary support gels, post-weight-loss skin toning products, thermoactive wraps and SPA thalassotherapy ranges. A separate area of use is dietary supplement manufacturing, where iodine-rich algae extracts are traditionally valued in the pharmaceutical and food industries for supporting mineral balance.
In formulations, fucus extract is typically added at the final production stage, into a cold or slightly warmed phase not exceeding 40 degrees, to preserve the biological activity of the polysaccharides and mineral compounds. Recommended dosage usually ranges from 2 to 5 percent of the finished product weight, with up to 8 percent acceptable for intensive anti-cellulite concentrates. The extract pairs well with other botanical extracts, such as Chamomile Flower Extract, which softens the potentially irritating effect of active ingredients on sensitive skin, and Plantain Extract, which enhances the soothing and regenerating effect of the final formula. For products targeting vein and capillary support, technologists often combine fucus with Dragon's Blood Extract, known for its toning properties for the skin.
The extract should be stored in a tightly sealed opaque plastic or glass container, in a cool dark place away from direct sunlight and heat sources, at a temperature between 4 and 20 degrees. Once opened, it is recommended to use the content within a reasonable timeframe and minimize contact with air to reduce oxidation. When storage conditions are respected, the extract remains stable throughout its shelf life, which is particularly important for conveyor-line manufacturing with a long usage cycle for a single raw material batch.
