Yoshino cherry blossom oil, 1 L for a full seasonal collection
This 1 L size of Prunus x yedoensis oil is for brands whose cherry blossom scent is already part of the range. The Yoshino cherry is the emblem of Japanese spring, and products carrying its note sell best from late winter to May. The card gives the INCI name Prunus x Yedoensis Essential Oil and Germany as the country of production. One litre lets you produce an entire seasonal collection from a single lot.
One lot, one story
When the mists, creams, candles and sachets of a spring line all come from the same lot, their scent matches exactly. A customer buying a gift set experiences one coherent fragrance rather than several close cousins. Several small bottles from different lots cannot promise the same.
Sizing the seasonal stock
At 0.5 %, a litre covers about 200 kg of body lotions and creams, and even more in mists with lower levels. Draft the season's production plan, calculate the oil required with a small reserve, and secure the raw material before production starts.
Production uses
Hand creams
Add the oil to the oil phase during cool-down, below 40 °C. Emulsifiers are in wholesale emulsifiers.
Body and hair mists
Premix with a solubiliser in a side vessel, then add to the water phase.
Gift candles
Cherry blossom works nicely in soy wax with white musk.
A premix for the whole line
For several products in one collection, prepare a fragrance premix of cherry blossom oil, fixative and supporting notes in the approved ratio, stored in amber glass. Each batch then needs one liquid measured. Common companions for cherry blossom are green tea, pear, peony, almond and yuzu.
Scaling up
Body products: 0.3 to 0.8 %. Facial products: 0.1 to 0.3 %. Large batches sometimes smell different from lab samples, so make an intermediate batch before the first full run. The safety assessment confirms the final levels.
Quality control
When you open the container, take a retention sample, label it with the lot number and keep it in the fridge for the shelf life of the collection. If a customer ever queries the scent, a comparison with the reference gives a quick answer.
Seasonal timing in practice
Many brands start filling spring products in January so stock reaches shops by mid-February. Working backwards from that date, the raw material needs to be in place before the first production slot, with enough time for an intermediate batch and stability checks of any new products in the line.
Card data
Clear to pale yellow liquid. INCI Prunus x Yedoensis Essential Oil. Country of production Germany. Pack size 1 L.
Production example: body mist, 10 L
Dissolve 300 g of glycerin and 100 g of a water-compatible preservative in 9.3 L of distilled water. In a side vessel mix 220 g of polysorbate 20 with 50 ml of cherry blossom oil and 15 ml of bergapten-free bergamot oil until clear, add to the water phase and stir until uniform. Hydrosols can replace part of the water and are listed under wholesale hydrosols. To test a new version before a run like this, use the 100 ml bottle. The wider range is in wholesale essential oils.
Storage
Keep the container in a cool, dark room, close it after each use and dispense from a smaller working bottle.
