Protecting the Skin's Structural Framework from the Inside
The extracellular matrix is the scaffold that holds skin cells together, giving tissue its firmness, elasticity and ability to repair itself. Over time, exposure to ultraviolet light and oxidative stress activates enzymes that break down collagen and elastin, causing the skin to lose density and become slack. This 5 g concentrate was developed to defend that scaffold directly, slowing the enzymatic breakdown of structural proteins while supporting the skin's own collagen and elastin production. The ingredient belongs to the Skin Protection and Restoration category, where active ingredients for barrier reinforcement and anti-aging support are gathered.
The main demand for this type of active comes from anti-aging skincare manufacturing - serums, night creams, concentrates and ampoule treatments for face, neck and decollete. It is widely used in formulas targeting mature skin, in anti-photoaging products, and in post-procedure care after peels or device-based treatments, where accelerated tissue repair matters most. The 5 g size is particularly suited to home-based formulation and small trial batches, letting independent brands and formulators test a recipe before committing to larger production runs.
The active should be added during the cool phase of an emulsion, at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees Celsius, to preserve the integrity of its sensitive molecules. A typical usage rate ranges from 1 to 3 percent of the total formula weight, though the exact concentration depends on the intended finished product. It pairs well with other protective and restorative actives, such as Chitin Beta-Glucan, which boosts the skin's local immune response and supports faster healing, and Avocado Complex, which nourishes and softens the epidermis with its fatty acid content. For formulas aimed at oily or blemish-prone skin, it can be combined with Tannin, which adds a mild pore-tightening effect.
Store the concentrate in a cool, dry place away from direct light, in a tightly sealed container. Under these conditions the active retains its potency for the shelf life specified by the manufacturer. Beyond skincare formulation, similar matrix-protecting complexes are occasionally used in professional cosmetic treatments where a high concentration of active substance is required within a small product volume.
Firming Night Concentrate for Mature Skin
ECM-Protect 1 g
Avocado Complex 2 g
Chitin Beta-Glucan 1 g
Vegetable glycerin 5 g
Distilled water 88 g
Preservative 1 g
Dissolve the glycerin in distilled water, then warm the mixture to no more than 40 degrees Celsius and blend in the avocado complex and chitin beta-glucan until fully combined. Once the mixture has cooled to room temperature, stir in the ECM-Protect and preservative until completely dissolved. Pour the finished concentrate into a pump bottle and apply a thin layer to cleansed facial skin each evening before bed.
