- Water-in-Oil (W/O) Emulsions: Primarily used as a highly effective emulsifier to create stable and luxurious W/O emulsions, offering a rich, occlusive, and often water-resistant feel. This is crucial for formulations like some sunscreens, barrier creams, and specialized moisturizers.
- Pigment Dispersion: Aids in the uniform dispersion of pigments in silicone-based color cosmetics, such as foundations, concealers, and eyeshadows, ensuring even color payoff and application.
- Emulsion Stabilization: Improves the stability of emulsions, preventing phase separation and ensuring a consistent product throughout its shelf life, particularly in challenging formulations with high oil or water content.
- Skin Conditioning Agent: Imparts a soft, smooth, and non-greasy feel to the skin, enhancing the sensory experience of creams, lotions, and other leave-on products.
- Emollient: Helps to soften and soothe the skin by forming a protective barrier that reduces moisture loss, contributing to hydrated and comfortable skin.
- Wetting Agent: Improves the wetting properties of formulations, allowing for better spreadability and application on the skin.
- Delivery System Enhancement: Can assist in the delivery of active ingredients by improving their solubility and penetration within the skin's layers.
- Sunscreen Formulations: Its water-in-silicone emulsifying capability is particularly beneficial in creating water-resistant and elegant sunscreen formulations.
- Barrier Creams: Ideal for formulating protective barrier creams that shield the skin from environmental aggressors and moisture loss.
- Color Cosmetics: Enhances the texture, spreadability, and longevity of silicone-based foundations, primers, and other color products.
