A Small-Batch Way to Try Passion Fruit Butter in Your Formulas
Passion butter is a dense plant-derived fat pressed from passion fruit seeds, solid at room temperature and valued across skincare, haircare and cosmetic manufacturing. This compact 10 g pack is designed for home formulators, small studios and product developers who want to test the ingredient in a new recipe before ordering larger volumes. It belongs to the Butters category, which brings together plant fats used worldwide in personal care and adjacent manufacturing industries.
The primary global demand for passion butter comes from skincare production: rich creams, lip balms, massage bars, eye-area treatments and nourishing facial masks. Its high linoleic acid content makes it particularly effective at supporting the skin's lipid barrier, which is why formulators often reach for it in products aimed at dry, sensitive or mature skin. In haircare, the butter is used in leave-in masks and conditioning balms, leaving hair smooth without weighing it down, making it popular in professional lines for damaged or dry hair. It also appears in solid perfume bases and scented sachets thanks to its stable firm texture at room temperature.
Passion butter should be added during the oil phase of an emulsion, melted in a water bath at around 55-65 degrees together with other oils and waxes. Typical usage rates range from 3 to 15 percent of the total formula weight, depending on the desired firmness and richness of the final product. It pairs well with other plant butters, such as Avocado Butter, which adds extra nourishment, or Olive Butter, which enhances the emollient profile of a recipe. In industrial solid-form formulations, passion butter is sometimes blended with Palm Oil to adjust melting point and firmness, and occasionally, as one option for a solid base, in soap formulations.
Store passion butter in a tightly sealed container, away from direct sunlight, ideally at 15-20 degrees Celsius. At higher temperatures the texture may soften, which does not affect its properties but requires re-cooling before use. The small pack size is convenient for testing the ingredient without risking spoilage of a larger stock if usage is still occasional.
