A Weightless Emollient Built for High-Volume Skincare Manufacturing
Cetiol Sensoft is a synthetic ester developed by BASF to deliver a light, fast-absorbing feel in creams, lotions, serums and body care products. This ingredient belongs to the broad range of BASF Cognis Care Chemicals, a category trusted worldwide by formulators who need consistent batch quality for skincare and color cosmetics production. The 10 kg drum is aimed squarely at conveyor-line and semi-industrial manufacturers who require steady raw material supply over months of continuous output rather than a single small purchase.
The primary use of this emollient lies in facial and body emulsions where a light, non-greasy skin feel is expected right after application. It is widely used in day and night creams, sun care formulas, after-shave balms, and hand or foot treatments where consumers demand quick absorption without tackiness. Beyond skincare, the ingredient also plays a role in color cosmetics such as tinted moisturizers, BB and CC creams, where it keeps the texture light even at high pigment loads. In hair care, it is often introduced into leave-in conditioners and finishing serums to smooth the hair fiber without weighing it down.
This component blends well with other esters and silicone alternatives, letting formulators fine-tune the sensory profile of a finished product. For lightweight emulsion systems, it is frequently paired with Cetiol CC, which adds a silky glide and further reduces any oily afterfeel. To stabilize water-in-oil or oil-in-water systems, manufacturers often turn to the emulsifier Lotioncrafter EL51, which reliably binds the oil and water phases when building creams and lotions around this emollient.
The recommended addition point is the oil phase, heated to around 70 to 75 degrees Celsius, blended with the remaining lipid ingredients before cooling begins. Typical usage levels range from 3 to 15 percent of the total formula weight, depending on the desired lightness and the presence of other emollients. The material resists oxidation well, which supports formulas with extended shelf life and minimal risk of rancid notes over time. Store the raw material in its original sealed container, in a dry area at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, a point that matters even more with a bulk 10 kg drum meant for gradual use across a production run.
Beyond cosmetic manufacturing, light esters of this type also appear in hand sanitizer formulas and small dosing bottles, where they soften the drying effect of alcohol-based bases — such formulas are often packaged into a plastic sanitizer bottle 30 ml 100 pcs for retail or trial batches.

the water phase with glycerin and niacinamide solution to 75 degrees Celsius,
and separately heat the oil phase containing the emollient, almond oil and
emulsifier to the same temperature. Slowly pour the oil phase into the water
phase under continuous mixing until a uniform emulsion forms, then cool to 40
degrees, add the preservative and fragrance, mix for another five minutes, and
transfer into clean containers.
