Recipe: Rustic Pine & Cedarwood Soy Candle
Create a deeply comforting and authentic woodsy candle that showcases the freshness of the Pine Fragrance Oil.
Ingredients:
-
One hundred and fifty grams Natural Soy Wax (Container Wax)
-
Twelve milliliters Pine Fragrance Oil (Primary Scent)
-
Three milliliters Cedarwood Fragrance Oil (Base Note/Fixative)
-
One piece Cotton Wick and Wick Tab (Burn Element)
-
One unit Glass Jar or Tin (Vessel)
Instructions for Preparation:
First Step: Weigh the Soy Wax (150 grams) and melt it slowly in a pouring pitcher using a double boiler method until it reaches a clear, liquid state.
Second Step: Monitor the wax temperature. Once the wax reaches approximately eighty degrees Celsius (80°C), remove it from the heat source.
Third Step: Allow the wax to cool naturally until the temperature drops to around sixty-five degrees Celsius (65°C). Weigh and add the Pine Fragrance Oil and the Cedarwood Fragrance Oil. Stir the mixture gently but thoroughly with a stirring rod for a full two minutes.
Fourth Step: Secure the wick to the bottom of the container with a wick sticker, ensuring it is perfectly centered. Slowly pour the scented wax into the container.
Fifth Step: Use a wick holder or centering device to keep the wick upright while the candle cools. Allow the candle to cure completely at room temperature for at least 48 hours.
Recommendations for Application and Storage:
-
Fragrance Load: The recipe uses a 10% total fragrance load (15 ml total per 150g wax), which is ideal for achieving a strong hot throw in soy wax. Always consult the maximum usage rate specified for the wax type.
-
Curing is Essential: The 48-hour cure time is the minimum recommended. The Pine scent will fully develop and strengthen dramatically if allowed to cure for one to two weeks before the first burn.
-
Wick Trimming: Before lighting, use a wick trimmer to cut the wick to 0.6 cm. This ensures a cleaner burn, prevents excessive smoke, and maximizes the performance of the Pine aroma.
