Instructions for Preparing the Foot Cream:

  1. Sanitize: Thoroughly sanitize all your equipment, containers, and work surfaces with isopropyl alcohol. Allow them to air dry completely.

  2. Prepare Phases A & B: In separate heat-proof beakers, combine the ingredients for Phase A (Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Emulsifying Wax) and Phase B (Distilled Water, Vegetable Glycerin).

  3. Heat: Place both beakers in a water bath (double boiler) and gently heat to approximately 70-75°C (158-167°F). Heat until the emulsifying wax in Phase A is completely melted and Phase B is hot.

  4. Emulsify: Once both phases reach temperature and Phase A is fully melted, slowly pour Phase B into Phase A while continuously stirring with a stick blender or whisk on medium-high speed. Continue blending for 3-5 minutes to create a stable emulsion.

  5. Cool Down: Remove the beaker from the water bath and place it into an ice bath or cold water bath. Continue stirring occasionally as the cream cools.

  6. Add Cool Down Phase (C): When the cream has cooled to below 40°C (104°F) and is starting to thicken, add the Tagetes Erecta Essential Oil, pre-dissolved Menthol Crystals (dissolve in a few drops of a carrier oil first), Vitamin E, Preservative, and Allantoin. Stir thoroughly after each addition to ensure even distribution.

  7. Check pH (Recommended): Test the pH of your cream. For foot creams, a pH between 5.0 and 6.5 is generally suitable. Adjust if necessary using a diluted solution of lactic acid (to lower) or baking soda (to raise).

  8. Package: Transfer the finished cream into clean, sanitized jars or squeeze tubes.

Recommendations for Use:

  • Dosage: The recipe uses 0.1% Tagetes Erecta Essential Oil, which is within the recommended cosmetic dosage for functional benefits. Adhere strictly to the recommended dosages (0.05-0.1% for cosmetics) to ensure safety and efficacy.

  • Temperature Sensitivity: Crucially, do not heat Tagetes Erecta Essential Oil above 40°C (104°F). Add it to the cool-down phase of your formulation to preserve its volatile and beneficial compounds.

  • Storage: Store the finished cream in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight. The preservative will ensure its shelf life, typically 3-6 months or as per the preservative manufacturer's guidelines.

  • Application: Apply a small amount of the cream to clean, dry feet, especially focusing on areas prone to dryness, odor, or fungal issues. Massage gently until absorbed. Use daily or as needed.

  • Patch Test: Always perform a patch test on a small area of skin (e.g., inner forearm) before full application, especially if you have sensitive skin or known allergies.

  • Not for Internal Use: Tagetes Erecta Essential Oil is for external use or diffusion only. Do not ingest.

  • Disclaimer: This recipe is for educational purposes only. Always consult a qualified professional for specific health concerns or before using essential oils for therapeutic purposes, especially if pregnant, nursing, or on medication.
