A gentle plant-based exfoliant that protects skin instead of scratching it
Flax scrub is made from ground linseed particles that gently buff away dead skin cells without leaving micro-scratches typical of synthetic abrasives like polyethylene beads. This makes the ingredient popular in the production of natural body and facial care lines, as well as in the spa industry, where a soft exfoliating action combined with the nourishing lipids naturally present in the seed coat is highly valued. This item belongs to the Scrubs for Cosmetic Production category, which brings together a wide range of exfoliating raw materials suitable for manufacturing at various scales.
The 1 kg pack is aimed primarily at studio and small-batch manufacturers: independent cosmetic brands, spa businesses developing their own product lines, and soap makers producing exfoliating bars in limited runs. This quantity is enough for several dozen jars of finished product, making it convenient for testing formulations before scaling up to larger production. Beyond skincare, flax scrub is also used in exfoliating hand and foot treatments, back-focused body polishes for problem skin, and as a natural texturizing component in household cleansing pastes and shower gels with a mild polishing effect.
It is best to add flax scrub at the final stage of formulation, once the base emulsion or gel has cooled to no more than 40 degrees, to preserve particle structure and prevent softening. Typical dosage ranges from 5 to 15 grams per 100 grams of finished product, depending on the desired intensity of exfoliation. The ingredient blends well with vegetable oils, honey, clay, and other natural abrasives; for example, formulators often add Vitamin E Unispheres Green to enrich the recipe with antioxidants, as these burst on application and release nourishing oil. For multi-textured exfoliating blends combining different abrasive fractions, flax scrub pairs nicely with Rosehip scrub, as well as with Raspberry seed scrub in oil solution, whose granules are already suspended in oil and blend smoothly into any mixture.
Store flax scrub in a dry place away from direct sunlight, in tightly sealed packaging, since the natural oils in the seed coat are prone to oxidation on contact with air and moisture. Under proper storage conditions the product retains its exfoliating properties for a long time without developing off notes from the fatty fraction.
Coffee and flax body polish
Flax scrub 70 g
Ground coffee 40 g
Coconut oil 90 ml
Emulsifying wax 15 g
Brown sugar 30 g
Vanilla fragrance oil 4 ml
Melt
the emulsifying wax together with the coconut oil in a water bath until fully
combined, then remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Stir in the
ground coffee and brown sugar until evenly distributed, then once the mass has
cooled to room temperature, fold in the flax scrub and vanilla fragrance oil,
mixing gently to keep the texture intact. Transfer the finished polish into a
wide-mouth jar and use it two to three times a week as an invigorating body
treatment before showering.
