Gentle Cleansing Power of Protein-Based Surfactants for Sensitive Skin and Hair
PROTEOL APL is a mild anionic surfactant complex built on a coconut-derived fatty component combined with hydrolyzed plant protein. This combination makes it one of the gentlest cleansing agents used in formulations for sensitive, irritation-prone and infant skin. The product belongs to the broad category of Surfactants, where cleansing ingredients of varying strength and purpose are gathered, and among them PROTEOL APL stands out for its soft foam texture and low irritation potential upon contact with mucous membranes and skin.
The primary use of this raw material lies in the production of shampoos (including baby and sensitive-scalp formulas), shower gels, facial cleansing foams, intimate hygiene products and micellar formulations. The protein fraction not only supports gentle cleansing but also delivers a light conditioning effect on hair and skin, reducing the tight feeling often left after rinsing. Beyond personal care, the ingredient is in demand for pet shampoo manufacturing and children's cosmetic lines, where raw material safety requirements are particularly strict.
The 1 kg package size is suited for small cosmetic workshops and laboratories operating in a small-batch format: studios producing trial and limited runs of shampoos and gels, as well as facilities testing new formulas before scaling up production. This quantity is enough for several dozen liters of finished product depending on the chosen concentration, making it practical for formula development without excessive leftover material.
In formulations, PROTEOL APL is typically added during the water phase mixing stage at a temperature between 40 and 60 degrees Celsius, after thickeners have dissolved and before fragrances and preservatives are introduced, to prevent excessive foaming at the final stage. Recommended dosage ranges from 3 to 15 percent depending on the required cleansing power and product type. The ingredient pairs well with other mild surfactants, such as Cocamide MEA, which enhances foam stabilization and gives the formula a denser lather texture. Working formulas are also often combined with isethionate-based co-surfactants like Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, allowing for an even gentler cleansing profile suited to sensitive skin. For viscosity control and system stabilization, thickeners such as Resassol Meg are convenient to use.
The raw material should be stored in a tightly closed container, in a dry area at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations, which helps preserve its stability and functional properties throughout the shelf life.
