A Gentle Olive-Derived Cleansing Base for Modern Formulas
Olive Carboxylate is a mild surfactant derived from the fatty acids of olive oil, increasingly chosen as an alternative to harsher sulfate-based cleansing agents. Ingredients of this kind belong to the broad category of Surfactants, which brings together raw materials responsible for foaming, cleansing, and emulsion stability. Thanks to its gentle behavior on skin and mucous membranes, this olive-based surfactant is widely used in shampoos, shower gels, intimate hygiene products, baby care lines, and cleansing foams designed for sensitive skin.
The strongest global demand for such raw material comes from the personal care industry, where manufacturers increasingly move toward sulfate-free and hypoallergenic cleansing systems. Formulators build daily-use ranges around it, including products for newborns and people with reactive skin. Beyond cosmetics, the ingredient also appears in household chemistry, particularly in mild dishwashing liquids and delicate fabric care products, where reducing the irritating effect of classic anionic surfactants matters. It is sometimes introduced into bubble bath formulas and intimate wash products, where the requirements for gentleness are especially strict.
Olive Carboxylate blends well with other components of the cleansing phase. To build a denser, more stable foam, it is often paired with co-surfactants and amphoteric additives such as OLIVE MEA, which helps refine texture and consistency of the finished product. For added moisturization and to counter dryness after cleansing, formulas are enriched with emollients like PLANTASENS OLIVE LD, while a creamy, enveloping foam is commonly achieved by adding the coconut-derived base Douceur de Coco. Together these components produce a product that cleanses gently without stripping skin or hair.
The surfactant should be introduced during the formation of the cleansing phase, after the water has been gently warmed to no more than 40 degrees Celsius, avoiding prolonged overheating that could weaken foaming performance. A typical usage level ranges from 5 to 15 grams per 100 grams of finished product, depending on the desired foam density and product purpose. Once added, the pH of the system should be checked and adjusted if necessary to reach a comfortable level for skin.
The 1 liter package size is intended for small-batch laboratories, studio-scale cosmetic production, and manufacturers testing formulas before scaling up or producing steady limited runs under a private label. This volume allows regular restocking without excess inventory while maintaining consistent raw material quality batch after batch.
Store the olive-based surfactant in a tightly closed container, in a dry place at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, to preserve its stability and functional properties throughout the shelf life.
Gentle Everyday Facial Wash
Distilled water 58 ml
Olive Carboxylate 21 ml
OLIVE MEA 3 ml
PLANTASENS OLIVE LD 2 ml
Douceur de Coco 11 ml
Aloe vera juice 3 ml
Preservative 1 ml
Warm
the water together with the aloe vera juice to about 35-40 degrees Celsius in a
clean vessel. Gradually add Olive Carboxylate and the coconut base, stirring
gently until the mixture becomes uniform without excessive foaming. Blend in
OLIVE MEA and the emollient, continuing to stir slowly for a couple of minutes,
then add the preservative once the mixture has cooled below 30 degrees. Pour
the finished wash into clean bottles and use it as a soft daily cleanser for face
or delicate skin areas.
