Cosmetic Recipe: Hydrating Facial Cream

• Phase A (Oil Phase):
  • Shea Butter: 5g
  • Sweet Almond Oil: 15g
  • Emulsifying Wax NF: 7g
• Phase B (Water Phase):
  • Distilled Water: 68g
  • Glycerin: 5g
• Phase C (Cool Down Phase):
  • Mikrokill (Mikrokill ECT): 0.8g (0.8%)

Instructions:

1. Combine the ingredients of Phase A in a heat-resistant beaker and heat gently in a water bath until melted.
2. In a separate heat-resistant beaker, combine the ingredients of Phase B and heat to the same temperature as Phase A.
3. Slowly pour Phase B into Phase A while stirring continuously.
4. Continue stirring until the mixture cools to approximately 40°C.
5. Add Mikrokill (Phase C) and stir thoroughly until evenly dispersed.
6. Transfer the cream to a clean jar.

Recommendations for Use:

• Recommended Concentration: The recommended usage rate for Mikrokill (Mikrokill ECT) is typically between 0.6% and 1.2%, depending on the specific formulation and challenge testing results. It is crucial to conduct challenge testing to ensure adequate preservation. In this recipe we use 0.8% which is a good starting point.
• pH Range: Mikrokill is effective across a broad pH range, typically from 3 to 8.  
• Addition Timing: It is generally recommended to add Mikrokill during the cool-down phase of formulation, below 40°C, to avoid any potential degradation of the preservative.
• Compatibility: Mikrokill is generally compatible with most cosmetic ingredients. However, it is always recommended to perform compatibility testing in your specific formulation.
• Storage: Store Mikrokill in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture.
