An earthy ochre shimmer that brings warmth to makeup and craft projects
This warm ochre mica belongs to the mica powders category, a group of natural pearlescent mineral pigments prized for their gentle shimmer and stable color. The 3 gram jar is a practical choice for home formulators, hobbyists and anyone running small test batches who wants to try a shade before committing to a larger quantity, keeping waste and cost to a minimum.
Ochre mica is widely used in decorative cosmetics such as eyeshadows, bronzers, highlighters, lipsticks and lip glosses, as well as in body products aimed at giving skin a soft sun-kissed glow. Its warm earthy tone mimics a natural tan beautifully and blends smoothly with golden and copper pigments to build gradient palettes with seamless transitions. Beyond makeup, this pigment is popular among crafters working with epoxy resin, polymer clay, handmade jewelry, decorative candles and interior decor pieces, where a non-migrating color with subtle shimmer is essential. It also shows up in household craft items like colored slime and bath bombs, and occasionally handmade soap makers use it as a decorative accent for the top layer of a bar.
Recommended usage typically ranges from 0.5 to 3 percent of the total formula weight, though the exact amount depends on the desired intensity and the base being colored. It is best added once the main mass has cooled to around 40-60 degrees Celsius, which helps prevent premature oxidation and preserves the shimmer that can dull at higher heat. Before blending into liquid phases, pre-dispersing the mica in a small amount of oil or glycerin is a good idea, as it prevents clumping and ensures the color spreads evenly throughout the batch. This mica pairs well with most vegetable and mineral oils, waxes, silicones and water-based gel systems, making it a flexible choice across many formulation types.
For layered, dimensional effects, the ochre shade works nicely alongside lighter golden tones such as Breath of Spring mica, which lends a soft glow to the palette. Blending it with the purple mica pigment blend creates a striking cool-warm contrast, while a touch of 24 Karat Gold mica adds a luxurious golden finish to any project.
Store the pigment in a tightly sealed container, away from direct sunlight and moisture, at room temperature. Under these conditions the color and shimmer stay stable for a long time without losing quality.
