How Concentrated Green Coffee Actives Support Body and Skin Formulations
Green coffee extract obtained through supercritical CO2 extraction is a concentrated pull from unroasted beans that retains a maximum of natural active compounds, including chlorogenic acid, caffeine, tannins and the lipid fraction of the bean. Thanks to a solvent-free process performed without high temperatures, this raw material belongs to the category of CO2 Extracts, valued by manufacturers for batch-to-batch consistency and strong biological activity of the retained compounds. The 100 g packaging is intended for studio-scale and small industrial production runs, where the extract is needed regularly in larger formulation volumes rather than occasional trial batches.
The primary field of use for this extract is body care and firming cosmetics: anti-cellulite creams, gels, serums and body wraps, where caffeine supports improved microcirculation and a visibly firmer skin appearance. The extract is equally popular in contouring products, decollete care and the spa industry, where it is widely used in professional body wraps and massage blends. Beyond body care, formulators use it in eye contour creams for its ability to reduce puffiness and refresh tired skin, as well as in shampoos and strengthening hair masks, where chlorogenic acid acts as an antioxidant component. In perfumery, green coffee concentrate serves as a natural aromatic modifier with distinctive green, slightly nutty facets, while in the food industry it is used as a component of flavor compositions for beverages and confectionery where a natural coffee note without roasted overtones is required.
The extract pairs well with other CO2 concentrates that reinforce its effect, such as CO2 extract for mature skin in anti-age formulations, and with Juniper CO2 Extract, which enhances the draining and toning effect in anti-cellulite recipes. For a stronger coffee aroma and additional activity, formulators also add the more concentrated CO2 Extract of Coffee Beans, allowing precise control over both scent and action of the finished product.
The extract should be added at the final production stage, keeping the base below 40 degrees Celsius to avoid degrading heat-sensitive compounds. Typical usage rates range from 0.5 to 3 percent of the total formula weight, depending on the desired concentration of active substances and formulation type. It combines well with vegetable oils, silicone emollients, and essential oils of citrus and coniferous origin. Store the extract in a tightly sealed container away from light and heat, avoiding direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations, which preserves the stability of active compounds throughout the shelf life.
Firming Body Serum with Coffee Actives
Emulsion base 820 g
CO2 Extract of Green Coffee 14 g
Juniper CO2 Extract 5 g
Jojoba oil 90 g
Panthenol 15 g
Essential oil of sweet orange 12 g
Preservative 9 g
Warm
the emulsion base gently in a water bath to around 35-38 degrees Celsius, then
slowly blend in the green coffee extract and juniper extract, mixing until
fully homogeneous. Add jojoba oil and panthenol, continuing to mix at low speed
to avoid trapping air bubbles. Finally introduce the sweet orange essential oil
and preservative, blend for another few minutes, then transfer the finished
serum into opaque dispensing bottles and allow it to cool at room temperature
away from direct light before sealing and labeling.
