Niaouli Oil in a 100 ml Bottle
This size is meant for the development stage: dosing trials, side-by-side scent comparisons and stability samples. The material is the same steam-distilled leaf oil of Melaleuca viridiflora found in the larger container, produced in Spain according to the product card, with the INCI name MELALEUCA VIRIDIFLORA LEAF OIL.
Niaouli belongs to the same genus as tea tree and cajeput, but its fresh camphor note sits on a softer, slightly sweet base.
What defines the oil
Roughly half of a typical niaouli oil is the oxide 1,8-cineole. Alpha-terpineol, alpha-pinene, limonene and viridiflorol make up much of the rest. The card describes the scent as clean, fresh, cold, spicy and strong with a camphor note.
Where to use it
Cleansers and toners for oily skin
The product card points to care for oily and porous skin, so face washes, clay masks and toners are natural fits.
Scalp products
Refreshing scalp lotions and shampoos.
Ambient fragrance
Diffuser blends and spa room sprays.
Dosage and handling
Aim for 0.5 to 1 % in leave-on products and up to 2 % in rinse-off products. Add the oil during cool-down below 40 °C, and use a solubiliser in water-based products. Leave it out of facial products for young children.
Blending partners
Lavender, rosemary, lemon, peppermint and cypress pair well with niaouli. Place stability samples in the final packaging, as cineole can soften polystyrene.
Product data
The oil is obtained from Melaleuca viridiflora leaves and listed as MELALEUCA VIRIDIFLORA LEAF OIL. It originates from Spain and comes in a 100 ml bottle.
Example: refreshing hand gel, 100 g
For 100 g of gel, mix 70 g of ethanol 96 % with 25.5 g of distilled water and 2 g of glycerin, then disperse 0.5 g of carbomer and neutralise it with about 0.5 g of triethanolamine. Premix 0.3 g of niaouli essential oil with 1.2 g of polysorbate 20 before adding it to the gel.
Disperse the carbomer in the water and let it hydrate. Add glycerin, then the ethanol in portions. Premix the niaouli oil with polysorbate 20 and stir it in. Neutralise with triethanolamine until the gel thickens. The oil content is 0.3 %.
Storage and scaling up
Keep the bottle tightly closed in a cool, dark place. Once your samples are approved, the same oil is available in a 1 L container. Browse more in wholesale essential oils.
