Product Description
Butylated Hydroxyanisole antioxidant stabilizer for lipid and emulsion cosmetic systems
Butylated Hydroxyanisole is a synthetic phenolic antioxidant widely used in cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food formulations to stabilize lipid components. The ingredient appears as a white to cream crystalline powder or fine granules with neutral odor. It is highly soluble in oils, fats, waxes and organic solvents but practically insoluble in water. In cosmetic manufacturing it is incorporated into the oil phase or dissolved in lipid ingredients during heating. The antioxidant helps maintain stability of oils and prevents oxidation related color changes in formulations. Its chemical stability and compatibility with lipid ingredients make it suitable for industrial scale cosmetic production.
Properties and formulation performance
In emulsions and anhydrous systems the ingredient supports stability of the lipid phase. It helps maintain clarity, color and structural uniformity of oil based formulations. When properly integrated it does not affect product texture or sensory profile.
Industry applications
Butylated Hydroxyanisole is used in creams, balms, oil serums, decorative cosmetics, hair care products and various lipid based cosmetic systems. It is also used in pharmaceutical ointment bases and certain food formulations as a fat stabilizer. The ingredient is suitable for private label development and contract manufacturing thanks to stable performance and scalable formulation compatibility.
Formula example
Sweet almond oil 140 ml
Jojoba oil 100 ml
Squalane 80 ml
Beeswax 40 g
Butylated Hydroxyanisole 1 g
Vitamin E 2 g
Lavender essential oil 1 ml
Beeswax is melted together with sweet almond oil until a clear oil phase forms. Jojoba oil and squalane are incorporated and mixed until homogeneous. Butylated Hydroxyanisole is pre dissolved in a small portion of the warm oil phase and then introduced into the main mixture ensuring even distribution. After partial cooling vitamin E and lavender essential oil are added. The mixture is blended until uniform and allowed to cool forming a stable balm with consistent lipid structure.
Butylated Hydroxyanisole is positioned for B2B manufacturers of cosmetic, decorative and lipid based formulations. The ingredient supports lipid stability, reproducible formulation performance and compatibility with scalable industrial and contract manufacturing processes.
