Versatile Applications and Usage Areas
The Dead Sea Spa Fragrance Oil is a versatile aromatic component, perfect for infusing a calming and fresh scent into numerous handmade and commercially produced items.
- For Soap Making:
- Cold Process Soap (Soap from Scratch): This is its primary and most celebrated application. Its excellent stability in alkaline conditions ensures the fragrance remains true, robust, and consistent throughout the saponification process, preventing discoloration or scent fading.
- Hot Process Soap: Performs reliably in hot process soap as well, maintaining its integrity under heat.
- Melt & Pour Soap: Easily integrates into melt and pour bases, providing a vibrant and long-lasting aroma.
- Liquid Soap: Incorporate into liquid soap formulations to provide a refreshing and clean scent experience for hand and body washes.
- For Other Handmade Cosmetics:
- Body Lotions and Creams: Add to body lotions, creams, and butters to create a harmonious sensory experience, leaving the skin subtly fragranced with a refreshing aroma. Recommended usage is 1-2%.
- Shower Gels and Body Washes: Infuse your shower products with this invigorating scent for an uplifting and spa-like cleansing routine.
- Bath Bombs and Bath Salts: Creates a captivating aromatic experience in bath bombs and bath salts, transforming an ordinary bath into a luxurious Dead Sea spa retreat. Recommended usage is 5-6% for bath salts.
- Shampoos and Conditioners: Provide a delightful and long-lasting fragrance to hair care products, enhancing the user's sensory experience.
- For Home Fragrance (Not for Candles):
- Room Sprays: Can be used in alcohol-based room sprays to freshen and invigorate living spaces.
- Potpourri: Drip onto dried potpourri for a lasting room aroma.
Note on Candles: While some fragrance oils are suitable for candles, this particular product's primary focus and specified usage for "cold process soap" and "alkaline environment" stability, along with a high solvent solubility, indicates it's designed specifically for wash-off and cosmetic applications. For optimal performance and safety, it's generally best to use specialized candle fragrance oils for candle making.

Instructions for Making Cold Process Soap:
- Safety First: Wear appropriate safety gear (gloves, eye protection, long sleeves) when working with sodium hydroxide. Work in a well-ventilated area.
- Prepare Lye Solution (Phase B): Carefully weigh out distilled water into a heat-safe container. Slowly add sodium hydroxide flakes to the water (NEVER water to lye), stirring gently until fully dissolved. The solution will heat up rapidly. Set aside to cool to around 100-120°F (38-49°C).
- Melt Oils (Phase A): In a separate heat-safe container, weigh and combine all solid oils (coconut, palm, shea butter) and gently melt them. Add liquid oils (olive, castor) and stir until fully combined. Cool the oil mixture to around 100-120°F (38-49°C).
- Combine Lye and Oils: When both the lye solution and oil mixture are within 10 degrees Fahrenheit of each other (and within the target temperature range), slowly and carefully pour the lye solution into the oil mixture.
- Achieve Trace: Using an immersion blender, blend the mixture until it reaches "trace" – the point where the mixture thickens enough to leave a visible trail on the surface when drizzled from the blender.
- Add Phase C: At light trace, add the Dead Sea Spa Fragrance Oil. If using, also add sodium lactate (if not added to lye solution earlier), fine sea salt, and mica powder. Blend briefly to ensure all additives are fully incorporated and evenly dispersed.
- Pour into Mold: Pour the traced soap batter into your prepared soap mold.
- Insulate and Cure: Cover the mold and insulate it with a towel or blanket to encourage gel phase. After 24-48 hours, unmold the soap and cut it into bars. Allow the soap to cure in a well-ventilated area for 4-6 weeks to fully harden and for the saponification process to complete.
Recommendations for Application and Use:
- Fragrance Percentage: The 1.5% usage rate for this fragrance oil in cold process soap provides a noticeable and lasting scent. You can adjust it within the recommended 1-2% range based on your desired scent strength.
- Handling in Alkaline Environments: This fragrance oil is specifically designed for stability in high pH environments, making it very reliable for cold process soap.
- Usage in Other Cosmetics: For lotions, creams, and shower gels, a 1-2% concentration is ideal to avoid overpowering the product and to ensure skin compatibility.
- Bath Products: For bath bombs and bath salts, a higher concentration of 5-6% is recommended as the scent is dispersed into a larger volume of water.
- Testing: Always perform a small test batch when using a new fragrance oil, especially in cold process soap, to check for acceleration, discoloration, or scent morphing.
- Storage: Store the fragrance oil in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight and heat, to maintain its quality and longevity.
