We prepare shaving foam with our own hands

Homemade shaving foam makes a lovely gift for the man you love. He will appreciate the care, and you will know it contains only good, gentle ingredients, which cannot be said of many shop foams.

What goes into the foam

You need 60 g of Base moussante Douceur or another mild washing base, 20 g of babassu mousse, 10 g of vegetable glycerin, 1.5 g of Cosgard preservative, a few drops of essential oils or his favourite cologne and 100 ml of distilled water or a hydrosol. Mild surfactants for products like this are in our surfactants range.

How to make it

Put the washing base in a container: it cleanses gently and can be swapped for any mild cleanser. Add the babassu mousse, which makes the lather richer. Glycerin keeps skin moisturised while shaving, as it draws water molecules from the air.

Since the recipe contains water, add the Cosgard preservative so the foam keeps longer. Add the scent: essential oils or his favourite eau de toilette. Mix well with a whisk, pour in the distilled water or hydrosol and mix again. Pour into a foaming pump bottle.
